We had a lovely stay at Manninghem. We did find a few issues, as the property was quite old there was a lot of creaking especially on the mezene balcony bedroom floor, door ways upstairs were quite small (wife ended up with a bruised shoulder and back ache) no real wardrobe space upstairs, we lived out of suitcases. downstairs bedrooms had wardrobes. Although one room downstairs had a double bed and 2 single beds, and a single wardrobe... There are only 5 bedrooms, we had a child sleeping on the landing space and a couple sleep on the mezene balcony. Kitchen really not big enough to cater for 16. There are 2 gas cookers but each only had 1 shelf inside, it took 45 mins to cook some chips and fishfingers for the little ones, so we either ate out or had salad and stuff we could cook on the hob. Downstairs shower room closest to kitchen, smelt because of the septic tank, not helped by the weather. You have to remember you are in Rural France and there are a lot of flies indoors. Supermarket in village was very expensive, there is a supermarket on the way to Le touquet which had a good range and was reasonably priced. Remember the extras that you have to pay for, bedding, towels and gas and electricity. Overall the house is beautiful and the garden is amazing.

The property is well positioned for exploring the local area which is lovely and unspoilt. The house itself is spacious - both inside and outside as advertised. We didn't feel very welcomed for a number or reasons including the fact that: The visitors 'handbook' could do with rewriting to ensure it is more user- friendly: the numerous threats of 50 Euro fines did not feel very welcoming! We paid 12 euros per person for bedding - but we had to make up the beds ourselves, as well as strip them before leaving. We appreciate that the rental price for the property is very reasonable but regardless of this the property is really in need of an overhaul and good clean as: Many of the electric sockets didn't work Although there were lamps by most beds there was nowhere to plug them in -extension leads didn't reach The toilet seats were chipped and wobbly The downstairs family room had a fly infestation (maybe that is why we found fly spray in a cupboard - which eventually cleared it) The kitchen had all the necessary appliances and equipment but lighting the oven was almost impossible - we eventually managed on the first night but gave up after that! The stairs are very steep and narrow as advertised, but also dangerous not only for children but also for adults at night

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for your feedback and review and am glad you enjoyed your stay. We have taken on board your comments on the visitors handbook and will update it – we have to legally display the 50 euros fines for damages etc as legal requirement although I do not believe we have ever had to enforce this. Noted on the lamps – they do normally all have an electric point associated but sometimes we need to change around the beds in rooms to meet a certain families requirement. This then may occasionally mean that the lamp might not reach and as such we will look into getting a longer extension for these instances. Also noted your point on lighting the oven and will ensure at arrival we make it clearer how to light this.
