Peaceful location with good walks

Peacefully located 50 yards along an unadopted lane, this welcoming, spacious detached holiday property provides warm and homely accommodation, and has a large sloping lawned enclosed garden. It is only about a ¼ mile from Seaford, a quaint seaside resort located at the foot of the South Downs (now designated a National Park). There are superb walks close by with plenty of wildlife and birds, Seaford Station is a 5 minute walk, cosmopolitan Brighton is only 20 minutes by train, with its Royal Pavilion, museums, theatres, cinema, seaside entertainments, restaurants, bars, marina, pier and The Lanes. The Seven Sisters Country Park, South Downs Way or Paradise Park where you can discover the fascinating world of animals and plants. Drusillas Zoo, voted number one attraction in Sussex is also within easy reach, or discover Cuckmere Haven or the far reaching views from Beachy Head. There are plenty of racecourses for horse racing enthusiasts within easy reach including Hickstead, Plumpton or Brighton. Glyndebourn and the outdoor summer opera, international tennis at Eastbourne, Firle Place, Pevensey Castle, Battle and 1066 country are all a short drive away. Golf, riding, hang-gliding and wine-tasting can all be enjoyed nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    Just a few words. From the property description we took it there was off road parking in a drive. We always insist on this. It was not so at Mallows. Parking was in a very narrow unmade road. No turning, meaning you had to back up at least 50 feet into a busy road. Where you parked was very difficult; old tree stumps, steep, dangerous slope when you got out the car. Might be room for one car, not two. Worse of all there was an obvious and long running dispute with all the neighbours over parking. Very unpleasant situation. Also when we arrived the TV did not work. Had to get an engineer to fix. Took him 40 minutes to retune the Sky box. Should have been checked prior to our arrival. Outside of property in much need of repair, inside very little character, very bland.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; I was most disappointed and surprised to read your comments regarding some aspects of your stay at Mallows. Peacefully located 50 yards along an unadopted lane, Mallows offers 2 car parking spaces and this is clearly advertised within the property description on the website. The road that you have to back onto is not a main road and is very quiet with a low volume of traffic. We have a parking arrangement with our neighbours and instructions on the parking arrangement are clearly noted on the window in the porch and in the kitchen. The Sky Box was working perfectly as it was tested by the cleaners during the changeover however, equipment does break from time to time without prior warning and we are sorry that the Sky Box was not working upon your arrival. We are pleased the Sky engineer you contacted managed to rectify the problem quickly however we would ask all future guests to contact us or the Caretaker in regards to any issues therefore allowing us the opportunity to rectify them immediately. The house has recently been renovated and the photographs on the website clearly show the properties interior and exterior. Comments from most customers are very complementary and it is unfortunate that Mallows did not meet your expectations.
