Loved It. Remote but offering lots to do within a short car journey. As advertised. Booked for the tranquility and the fishing and it lived up to both. Facilities really good and far superior to what the reviews led me to believe. Would book Mallards Lodge again Thank you.

The lodge although it looks like it is isolated is actually on a park with other lodges. The door entrance to the car park is up rather a steep slope so don't take wheelchair users! It had major cobwebs although bed linen was good. The garden was unkept and i couldnt let my small dog out as there was a huge gap in the decking which should have been a step into the garden but was in fact a very boggy area with a large drop.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Mallards Lodge is one of the very few lodges at Hartland Forest that enjoys spectacular views across the lakes uninterrupted by any other lodges. At dawn and dusk the view can be magical. We strive to maintain the lodge and its fittings in first class order and continually make improvements. Because of this we have repeat bookings covering a number of years.

The property itself was satisfactory, but the positioning of it was hard to find off the main road with minimal directions. There was no welcome pack on arrival and considering it is miles from the nearest shop and you can't check in until after 3, it would have been useful. The site itself was on a slope so outdoor activities for younger children were impossible, there were 5ft weeds all around the property which obviously hadn't been maintained for some time. The decking is in need of some attention as it is slippery when wet, and a metre section of fencing is missing. There is blocked guttering outside the double room so when it rains there is a continual torrent of water right outside the window. There is supposed to be parking for 2 cars outside the property but in face had to park in cabin 59's space.
