For those looking for an active holiday, this lodge is the perfect choice, with fishing, golf, cycling and walking all nearby.

Peacefully located amidst arable farmland lies Mackinder Farms; a collection of cottages and contrasting eco-friendly lodges. The holiday cottages (W42586, W42941, W42942), lovingly converted from 18th-century farm buildings, have been carefully renovated retaining many original features including beams and roof trusses and exposed brick and stone work. Each cottage has been tastefully furnished to a good standard and offer excellent facilities. There are private gardens and care has been taken to ensure guests enjoy their privacy.

The superb Nordic pine log cabins (W43008, W43009, W43170, W43171, W44304 and UKC2565) offer eco-friendly holiday accommodation with grass roofs and renewable, underfloor heating. Each lodge enjoys a private hot tub including hot tub towels, and are perfect for relaxing and soaking up the tranquillity of the surroundings. There are separate garden areas and great care has been taken to ensure guests enjoy privacy.
Selby Canal is nearby where fishing is available, whilst Selby Golf Club is just a short walk and visitors receive a warm welcome on the course and in the clubhouse. Set between Brayton and Gateforth, the area is ideal for walkers and cyclists with the Selby Horseshoe and Selby and York Cycle path running close by. An abundance of wildflowers, birds and butterflies can be enjoyed in the nature reserves at Barlow Common, Skipwith and Derwent Valley. RSPB experts run guided walks around Fairburn Ings, 10 miles, and events including family fun days are organised throughout the year.
Medieval York is just 17 miles away, with easy access to the city from the designer outlet park and ride, 15 miles. Hull with its futuristic aquarium, Leeds and the Royal Armouries and the elegant spa town of Harrogate are all within an hour’s drive. The coastal resorts of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby are easily accessible. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Properties W42941 and W42942 have an interconnecting door and can be booked together to accommodate up to 10 guests. The properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 47 guests.

    We all thoroughly enjoyed our week at Mallard Lodge. The site has been carefully thought out to ensure privacy; we thought Mallard was excellent for this. The Lodge is well equipped; everything you could want has been provided including a hairdryer. The details say the laundry is coin-operated which is not the case - it's free. There are lovely walks from the Lodge, particularly along the canal. There is a Premier shop in Hambleton which is about 3 miles away and eating out is mainly at pubs unless you want to go into Selby. The A 63 is closed outside the properties but James will send you details on how to get around this.

    A great stay at this quiet cosy lodge which is ideal for exploring York and the surrounding area, hot tub was great and lodge was comfy we stayed a week and explored every day.

    Would definitely recommend. Had a brilliant stay. Had absolutely everything we needed. Lovely location to get away. Nothing bad at all to say about any part of it from start to finish.
