Property rented 15th to 22nd August. The setting in the owners' estate is idyllic and first impressions of the house are good. The interior, however, is a different story. The rooms are dark and gloomy, unlike the photos on the Internet. The kitchens and bathrooms are old, though clean and perfectly functional, with plenty of hot water (an extra 30 euros). However, the soft furniture and furnishings (sofas, rugs, curtains, blankets and beds) are dust-laden, dirty and stained. Curtains are cobwebbed, most attached by only a couple of hooks. Thankfully, we had taken our own bed linen and duvets to avoid the additional linen charges. Some beds have grubby plastic sheets attached, and the leg of one bed kept falling off at the slightest movement. There is bare wiring, and switches and sockets crackle when activated. Many of the light bulbs are missing. Windows and doors are stiff to lock and unlock. We had to pay 350 euros damage deposit on arrival, though this was returned without issue. We were a party of nine and had to also pay 99 euros (11 euros per person) for cleaning, despite the fact we spent most of our time outdoors, left the house no worse than we'd found it, our party included two children under 5, and two of the party only stayed for three days. Despite all this, the weather was glorious and we had a WONDERFUL holiday, because the grounds and the lake (with use of a rowing boat), and the local area are absolutely fabulous.
