Even though we have been three times, each time it takes your breath away. The most spectacular location, a very comfortable and well equipped base to stay in that maximises the ever changing views and some really good local eateries. Deserted white sand beaches, big skies, dark skies. You couldnt ask for much more.

Lovely property, beautiful location. friendly and helpful owner. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday despite mixed weather. Good meals at Ardshelach Lodge, Acharacle Tea Room and Salen House.

Amazing location with truly 360 degree views, best we have had in 30 years of self catering. Very comfortable and well equipped cottage with lots of thoughtful touches from the owner. Lots of wildlife, walking, kayaking, cycling, or just taking in those stunning views on your doorstep. One of the top ten secluded white sand beaches a beautiful walk away. Great dark skies for stargazing. Dont be put off by silly reviews (cockerels, in the countryside!) we have been twice and booked for september. Whats wrong with these people?

Where to begin. The property itself is amazing. The driveway, however, is full of potholes. The shantytown style next door neighbour is not what I would describe as idyllic, nor his goats who came to welcome us by dancing on the bonnets of both cars causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage. Whatever the owner says do not park your car at the front of the house but through the gate that leads to the caravans. If you go on holiday wishing to be woken everyday by a crowing cockerel at 4am and then when you sit in the garden it still keeps going until 3pm then this is the place for you.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; When I heard about the damage to the cars the first thing I did was to contact my lawyer to find out if the goats were illegal on the common grazing around the house. He contacted the crofting commission and was told that indeed the goats were not allowed on the common grazings around Macneils croft. I then contacted the police who visited the crofter in question and he was told that if the goats were let out again he would be charged, since then the goats have never been outwith his croft and vehicles parked outside Macneils croft are totally safe from damage. I phoned my visitors to update them of the situation that the goats were no longer free and there had been a police visit to make sure this would never happen again, therefore there was no need to be saying, " whatever the owner says do not park your car in front of the house", this was made very clear to the visitors. The crofter nearby has in the last few weeks been ordered by planning to clear up all the items he has made visible from my croft and very soon will be put back to pasture. The track is over half a kilometre long and is in the process of being repaired after a bad winter of weather, most people can accept this and drive accordingly to avoid the potholes quite easily. As for nearby cockerels they are part of rural highland life along with sheep, cattle and the many wild birds that live here, I really do not think you can hear much noise behind modern double glazing. I hope that this clarifies these issues made by these particular visitors as most people have a lovely and relaxed stay at Macneils croft.
