Lovely traditional cottage, very close to Sandsend and Whitby. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children, the kitchen was well equiped and the stove kept us comfortable in the evenings. We had a fire most evenings and the included logs and coal lasted the week. The heater didn't work in the twin room, however, a portable radiator had been put in there, and to be honest, kept that room warmer than the heater in the small double room did. We had a really lovely time at the cottage, and once everywhere was warm, it was great. Obviously as a older property, it can take a while for the building to warm through, but after a good fire on Friday, the fire on Saturday just kept it topped up. The pub next door only seemed to be open and serving food Fri-Sun, perfect for our late arrival on Friday night. Food was fantastic though and very homely. Our daughter wasn't keen on their childrens menu so they changed it slightly for her which she thought was great! My brother and wife stayed in the smaller cottage next door for the weekend and it was great to be able to be together without having to rent a huge property for 8 when we only needed it for the weekend.

We really enjoyed our stay at New Year. The cottage had plenty of room for us, and the Christmas decorations were a bonus. It was a little cold when we arrived as it is heated by storage heaters, but it soon warmed up and the woodburning stove was excellent. The kitchen was well equipped for the family, and the accommodation comfortable. The road was fairly noisy, but we were aware of that when booking and soon got used to it. A great location, close to Whitby and attractions, and had everything that we needed.

Lovely quaint cottage. well equipped close to places of interest. Only downside , door opens on to busy main road. quite noisy . However this did not spoil our stay. Would definitely use this cottage again.

Lovely cottage but right on the main road and traffic noise a problem if you like a lie in when on holiday.

Lovely stay for a week at the cottage. Really relaxing and pleasant, convenient to access all areas of North Yorkshire and close to sands end beach. Lots of good local food to. Access as well such as The Ellerby Pub and local shop does lovely breakfast sandwiches.

The cottage was good for a long weekend but hard going with a baby and a disabled person.

Disappointed with the Stiddy but that's not the fault of the cottage owners, otherwise another great stay.
