This cottage is wonderful, very clean, warm & superbly located. It has all the amenities & equipment you could need. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lythe cottage to anyone. I left it with regret & would gladly live there if life would allow. All in all a well kept, lovley cottage.

We booked this cottage just for a quiet getaway following an illness and it was a perfect retreat in a quiet village. We don't want the price to go up as we'd like to go back but it was nothing short of a bargain. The cottage was really clean and for a listed building, very modern inside without losing any character. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you might need. The lounge/dining area is spacious with a reasonably good TV that works and comfy seats. The wood burner is hard work even with instructions but when we did eventually make it work, it made the room really cosy. Upstairs, the bedroom is light and the bed comfortable (although take your own pillows if you don't like feather). The room is pretty much as well equipped as a hotel room with bedside lamps, wardrobe, hangers, iron/ironing board, hair dryer and think I spotted a trouser press. The bathroom is very modern with spacious shower cubicle (electric shower), big sink and under floor heating. Towels and bedding were plain white and spotless. The stairs are steep and narrow, and mind your head. In the village there is a shop/café open through the day and a great pub literally on the doorstep although it isn't always open. Food there was excellent. Free on-road parking is available across the road but the car was visible from the window. Access to local attractions such as Whitby, the Moors, Robin Hood's Bay and so on is good. Any negatives? Not really. The only thing I would mention is that we could get no mobile/4G signal whatsoever inside the cottage and it was very weak outside. It wasn't that great in Whitby. However, in many ways this was a good thing as it meant we had a real break from everything. Wi-Fi would be good though insomuch as it'd mean we could've googled local attractions and checked how far away they were for example although in reality, finding these places in the first place is half the fun.

Found the road very busy and noisy through out the night. Kitchen was lacking many basics eg salt, washing up liqued and washing up bowl......

Charming cottage in a stunning area . The owner was kind enough to leave a welcome pack including a local paper, biscuits, milk and plenty of fuel for the very efficient log burner. The cottage has been carefully renovated and tastefully decorated with charming seaside touches. We had a fantastic 4 night break but we wanted to stay longer.
