Enjoy the village life at this terraced cottage, with many attractions nearby and the pub is within walking distance.

Located on the square of the charming village of Chittlehampton in North Devon, Lychgate Cottage is a great holiday base for those wanting to experience a slice of village life. This terraced cottage has been renovated to a very good standard by the owners. Well-appointed and furnished throughout, the cottage is a great place to return to after a busy day of sightseeing or coping with the hectic pace of village life! Being located on the square means the good local pub and community run shop are all within easy walking distance. The village church that towers over the square also makes for an imposing sight. Head towards Barnstaple where you have access to some of the best beaches in the country, including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach at Instow is ideal for children, or just a great place to walk and enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Barnstaple has most amenities you may require with its busy high street, as well as the market and butchers row, which are well worth a visit. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS Gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village of Clovelly. National Trust properties can be found at Arlington, Castle Drogo and Knightshayes Court. For the younger ones a visit to the Big Sheep or Milkyway make great days out. There is walking on Dartmoor, Exmoor and the South West Coastal Path, or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail. There is also fishing and golf available locally. Shop 250 yards and pub 75 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with wooden floors. First floor: 2 double bedrooms. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV/recorder. DVD. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Wi-fi. Car park 10 yards (foc). Welcome pack. No smoking.

A very small cottage really only for a couple or two friends. There is no garden unfortunately and the sun sets behind the property. The cottages location is very remote taking at least 45 mins to a hour to get anywhere of interest. The pub The Bell highly recommended and nothing else within an hour as good. If you're looking for a walking holiday it's great, otherwise expect to travel.

This cottage is as advertised and we had a very restful stay. Point to note the bath is high and taps are on the side you get it. As we were all tall this was not a problem but for someone older or shorter it might be, a walk in shower would solve this problem. There is no garden or outside space just a well placed bench for that evening coffee. Take care if you rely on your SatNav it may direct you down some VERY narrow lanes. Overall we had a very nice holiday and would recommend this cottage to our friends/family.

The cottage was lovely and modern throughout. The village was lovely and quiet, with a lovely welcome at the village pub. The bottle of Cava from the owners was a welcome surprise.
