Teresa and Richard were very friendly and welcoming on arrival. The accommodation was very clean, well equipped and comfortable The location was quite rural, but lots of interesting places to visit within 30 mile radius

excellent area and availability for walking and driving, especially the hilly roads, like Lake District.

I would definitely NOT stay here again!! The owner was unfriendly when we phoned to confirm & then upon arrival she was most unwelcoming telling us to "go away" basically as too early by an hour so not welcoming cup of tea or smile unlike other places we've been. Then when we came back she grumpily escorted us to the so called "cottage" which was merely a 1960s style damp v small prefab/glorified caravan which smelled damp! We were then told we aren't able to leave our dog unattended despite charging us extra for him & despite him having a crate so he wouldn't cause any problem. My Son who has Asthma coughed every night & itched as did I who doesn't even normally have a problem. We were charged extra for electricity & had to bring our own towels so a total rip off pricewise for what it was! Our windows were next to a path and driveway so opening curtains was out of the question as we were in a goldfish bowl with people walking past all the time so not private. The two settees which were provided were v hard cold & uncomfortable & plastic fake leather looking & the beds were damp. It was meant to sleep 4 but was v cramped for just 2 & a dog. Total rip off for what it was, never again!!!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. We are so sorry that you found us unfriendly. We take pride in welcoming our guests and making them feel at home, and this is regularly commented on by other visitors. Although time does not allow us to make each guest a cup of tea upon arrival, I always make fresh cakes for our visitors to enjoy as they are settling into their bungalow. The bungalows themselves are in fact stone built, not prefabricated, and the sofas are real leather. We hope that the pictures in Cottages4You show accurately the room sizes and the path which is in front of them, and indeed the description explains that bed linen is included. There is no mention of towels because, like many other holiday accommodations of a similar nature, towels are not included. There is a charge for dogs, as stated in the brochure, but we do feel - as a courtesy to other guests - that they should not be left unaccompanied in the cottage as they may get distressed and bark and cause inconvenience. We checked the rooms for damp after you left but saw no signs. Possibly they might have felt damp due to damp clothing because of the bad weather that week? We will continue to make sure that we check our rooms for any future evidence of damp. Best wishes, Teresa and Richard

The cottage smelled of damp dog and the kitchen cupboards were unpleasantly smelly. Wi fi could be easily extended to each cottage. But the location was grerat!
