The apartment is in a great location with access to the pool. Our only grumble was to the standard of cleanliness. Whereas the bathroom/kitchen were clean the floors throughout were filthy and had obviously not been cleaned after the previous holiday maker. Also the bedding was sheets/blankets which the blankets/throws were also grubby. Change these for duvets as much easier to maintain.

Wonderful location and very comfortable beds and settee with fantastic views; however, the flat was not clean. The worst area was the kitchen with grubby, sticky drawer handles; kitchen drawers with dirt, crumbs and hairs inside them; some dirty utensils; kitchen bin broken and bin bags provided were too small and a fridge that was not fit for purpose - needed defrosting which I did as soon as we arrived but it very quickly frosted-up again once it was turned back on and that was on the lowest setting. You can't use the back of the fridge because food gets spoilt against the ice. No canisters or storage jars at all to store your tea or crackers etc in. Some very old, unpleasant looking kitchen utensils - for example the one and only baking sheet was unusable and needs to be thrown out. Some very dusty surfaces - particularly the towel rails which needed to be cleaned before we felt happy putting our towels on. Lots of dirt and dust under beds and under the settee was a total disgrace - we only found this out because my mum lost an earring under the settee and we had to move it. No Welcome Pack - not a good start for such an expensive holiday. Not even a pint of milk in the fridge or a couple of tea bags! Never been anywhere before where there was no welcome pack. When I mentioned this to the owner, I was told that most people order their shopping to be delivered from Tesco or Sainsburys. Well yes and so did we - but it would have been nice to have had a little something waiting for us when we arrived - the gesture would have been appreciated. And where are the storage tins to store all the food we had delivered? On the positive side - plenty of hot water, good dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer (very useful after getting wet out in the Lakes!); nice, clean towels and sheets and a good pool and gym although access into the pool was difficult for my 79 year old, mobility-impaired mother. The owner did come and see us with a bottle of wine as an apology for the dirty apartment which was appreciated but it was not sufficient compensation. I do not expect to stay anywhere and have to start cleaning before I can put food away and most certainly not somewhere as expensive as Low Meadows. We paid a high price for this holiday and we expected it to be spotless and unfortunately is wasn't. I did take photos of all the problem areas which I emailed to the owner 2 weeks ago. Still no response. Overall - a brilliant location and an apartment that could have been superb if only it had been properly cleaned. Rather shabby in places and not well maintained. Such a pity.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We do not advertise or supply welcome packs as everyone's preference is different. There is an onsite restaurant providing refreshment continuously for 16 hours each day. There are also onsite staff members at the country Club reception for 12 hrs per day to deal with any aspect of maintenance or cleaning. Had a problem been reported, it would have been immediately dealt with. However this guest, still not having reported any problem to staff, telephoned the Owner the next morning to complain, and the Owner visited immediately. Additional cleaning was offered but refused as it was claimed that they had attended to matters themselves. The guest claimed to the owner that they were unable to operate the perfectly functional microwave and so a new one was provided within 30 mins. With regard to the refrigerator, this was left by this guest at the highest setting, causing excessive ice build-up - not at the lowest setting as stated. Of all the photos provided, we, and our housekeeper, are only able to identify 3 as pertaining to Low Meadow. We certainly do not accept that this was a dirty apartment. Disabled access is provided throughout the Country Club and into the pool to suit most cases of disability, and the Club has many disabled members using the pool.

Boiler not working apartment cold no hot water on arrival but maintenance fixed promptly Sheets stained No duvets, soiled blankets and top covers Bulbs out in bedroom and shower room Dirty wall next to dishwasher Bedside cabinet - dirty tissues etc. assume from last customers - photo attached No bin bags Photos of soiled sheets, etc. available Third visit to one of the cottages . . nice but housekeeping very poor

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Had the guests reported such problems to the site management, as they did with regard to the heating, then all the points raised would have been immediately investigated and dealt with. They did not do so during their stay nor on departure. The property is not serviced until just prior to the arrival of new guests and it has therefore been possible for our housekeeper to inspect the bed linen and covers and she confirms that there is no problem. We do not provide duvets in the property and the cotton bed linen is supplied directly from the laundry for each changeover.
