Description

After an active day cycling, walking or enjoying Go Ape, relax in this peaceful property with its countryside views.

Nestling in the sleepy village of Lockton, these attached, former working barns (refs IXY and IXZ) have been sympathetically converted and have views of the countryside beyond. They are ideally located for a holiday exploring both the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the glorious Heritage coast of Yorkshire, including Whitby and its 3-mile stretch of sandy beach. Cycle tracks to suit all ages can be found in Dalby Forest, together with picnic areas with built-in barbecues, children’s play areas and ‘Go Ape’. The market towns of Malton, Kirkby Moorside and Pickering all warrant a visit; the steam train from the latter chugs on to Grosmont and Goathland. Tea room 300 yards. Shop 5 miles, pub 1 mile.

Large, open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove, French doors, wooden floor and well-equipped, farmhouse-style kitchen area with gas/electric range (for cooking) and tiled floor. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed and sloping ceilings. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with roll-top bath and toilet.

We had an absolutely lovely and very relaxing short break in Lockton and only wish it could have been much longer! The cottage was beautiful, very clean and has every home comfort, along with picture perfect views. There is lots to see and do in the surrounding area, whatever the weather - we enjoyed our fish & chips in Whitby in glorious October sunshine. Jenny's welcome was so warm, and the fresh eggs and home baking were much appreciated. We hope to return to Low Horcum View soon.

Fantastic property. Great location, just off the main Whitby Road in a small, quiet village. Everything catered for, even plastic cups and plates for the children. Lots of extras too; DVDs, magazines, games, outdoor toys and even buckets and spades! Loved the fresh bread, chocolates and wine on arrival. The owners were on hand if you needed anything and very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time, on our first family holiday. The location was perfect, quiet and peaceful but still being close enough to everything you need. Jenny made us very welcome on our arrival and the cottage was lovely. It was clean and spacious and finished off to a very high standard. We'll definitely be back in the future and can't recommend staying enough! Thank you Tom Sarah Oliver

A fantastic holiday home, the best we've experienced. Lovely view over countryside and lots of birds in the garden. Nothing we were short of ...magazines,games and tickets for nearby attractions. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates..very nice people. Highly recommended.

What a stunning cottage! We had a fabulous few days exploring North Yorkshire. Ideal location for visiting the coast. The owner Jenny had thought of everything and was so welcoming. We'll be returning in the future for a longer stay! Only slight downside was the lack of Internet on site and no phone signal either, but this is also an advantage if you're wanting a peaceful break away where no one can reach you!

We enjoyed our stay at Low Horcum View immensely. The cottage was beautifully presented, well equipped and in a wonderful position for touring by car and for great walks right from the door. We received a very warm welcome from the owner who was only too happy to provide helpful advice and knowledge to make our stay even more enjoyable. We would love to stay at Low Horcum View again. It is an outstanding cottage.
