Excellent value for money cottage at the price we paid. We stayed there for 2 weeks from 20th August to 3rd September 2016, as a family of 6 with children aged 7,5,4 and 12 months. The house is plenty big enough for us all, the garden totally safe and enclosed so that even the toddler could wander about on his own. They've put in a brand new swing set with a single seat swing and a see saw type swing next to it, so all 3 of our older kids could be swinging at the same time (and therefore a reduction in arguments). There are 2 ponies in the field next door who liked being petted and fed grass by our kids. The house has French satellite TV, but no English channels, and no WiFi which if the owners were looking to improve anything these would be one of the things to look at. Also the house has just one toilet, which is downstairs. If you have a cot aged child that can sit/stand you'll need a travel cot as their cot doesn't have a lower base level. Also bring a travel stair-gate as the lounge opens onto the stairs. The highchair is OK but no harness, so I had to stay next to our little one at all times as he kept standing up in it. If you bring some reins you could use them to harness the child in safely. I also brought blackout blinds which I used front and back in the upstairs kids room. The downstairs room has blackout shutters one end and a great blackout blind the other end. Great holiday location.

The cottage was very spacious and comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and the owners were friendly, approachable and helpful. When the light bulb blew in the downstairs toilet, M. Mezenge replaced it within half an hour. We loved the remote location and the fact there was no wifi. The horses next to the garden were very nice as were the chickens over the road! The only downside was that whoever used the barbecue last hadn't cleaned it so we didn't use that. The bar in the village seemed to be open rarely and the restaurant menu was limited. The local shop was well stocked and friendly. There is a cash point opposite the shop and an unattended petrol pump as you leave the village which is handy.

Great house and great space. Owners (across the road) friendly. Some nice redecorating since our last stay. Village having some redevelopment in the square (5min walk) with an improved bar and new boulangerie on the way. Just a bit disappointed by cleaning needed when it is charged for and by mice in the kitchen. To be fair we did not report this to the owners - we just got on with sorting it out.

A lovely holiday with an expensive sting in the tail. We really enjoyed our holiday here, it is a rural idyll with lovely big garden, chickens and country walks starting near the house and friendly owners. The wood burning stove was amazing. The village itself was short walk away, delightful and with picnic area near the Abbey. The biscuit factory shop was a real bonus although unfortunately tours were not running when we were there. It was easy to get to surrounding sights and markets, with ice cream farm and beer centre 5mins max by car, and 10mins to Arthur's Forest. We have a 1 year old and took him to the Zoo de Champrépus in Champrepus, well worth a visit no matter how old you are, it's more interactive with the animals than UK zoos, you can walk with the lemurs (one tried to get into the push chair to come home with us!) and the goats, chickens and ducks. Unfortunately, when we were there, the village boulangerie/Patisserie was closed and for sale but you could still get reasonable bread and cakes from the village mini-supermarket, bit of a shame though. Our one and only issue was the additional charges. We knew we would have to pay 50euros extra for cleaning, 10euros each for linen, making 80 euros in total for which we budgeted for (though we couldn't use the cot, it was too dangerous as the sides were too low for babies who are able to sit and stand) but what we were most surprised about was a knock on the door on the Thursday evening, as we were trying to feed our baby, to be presented with a bill for 150 euros! There is a mention in the small print that heating costs will be extra but 70 euros for a week was excessive. It made for a very awkward experience for all, trying to understand the charges in our limited French plus dealing with a frustrated and hungry baby at the same time. We haggled the owner down to 110 euros. We understand people need to make a profit on these things but this came as a bit of a shock and if the 150 had been added to the upfront price we would have looked elsewhere for our accommodation. It tainted the remaining holiday. The place is really lovely but if you are staying there make sure you budget in the extra charges
