Fantastic place for a relaxed family celebration. It felt as though we had borrowed a friends comfortable house for the week! The house managed old fashioned charm combined with a well equipped kitchen and good central heating. The situation was perfect with a 15 minute walk across the fields to the town of Hay which not only the books but a fabulous Thursday market and local food shops. Restorative in every way.

We stayed for a long weekend for a family Christmas get together. Our first observation on arrival was omg no Christmas decorations! Now I know not everyone celebrates Xmas but it would have been helpful to have had the info to allow us to bring some of our own. The cottage is a little tired and worn and the single cooker is not really adequate for parties of 10. However, we had a fabulous time! Loads of hot water for showers, beds all so very comfy and beautiful views from the large front windows! Such a lovely and quiet location and a 15 minute walk down into the beautiful village of Hay-on-Wye. We had a lovely wander around the quaint shops and a lovely meal on the Saturday evening in one of the local pubs. The cottage itself accommodated the ten of us easily and we never felt on top of each other. May not be suitable for disabled as there are steps and slopes. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have all agreed that we would love to go back one day.

The cottage has lots of character - which means good things like a lovely open fire in a cosy living room, but also some draughty windows and intermittent hot water, especially in the annexe. The location is lovely, with an awesome garden, and we have had a great week and loved the character of the place, but it is a bit quirky so may not be to everyone's taste.

This cottage has the potential to be amazing, its in a beautiful spot down a quiet country track and has the most stunning views. Its also an easy walk to Hay itself. There is enough space for the headcount and plenty of equipment / utensils etc. However, the cottage itself is in need of a lot of repairs particularly to the ceilings and windows and general renovations / a spring clean. I would love to stay there again if the cottage itself has a bit of a make over.

'Longlands' is set in it's own grounds with a fantastic view and if you are lucky, rabbits frolicking on the lawn. It is a wonderful cottage for a most relaxing holiday but also a great starting point for walking locally. The property itself is old and basic and could do with some upgrading in places. It is suffering from a lack of property maintenance. This in no way reflects on the caretaker's standards but probably the owner's reluctance for improvement. The beds were comfortable as was the lounge furniture and there is ample equipment for preparing and serving food & drink. Outside garden furniture could definitely do with replacing as some is not fit for purpose. These comments are purely advisory as our time there, assisted by some great weather, was a really enjoyable experience for an eclectic family mix who would happily go again. For information purposes, this was our 2nd visit to 'Longlands'.

Longlands is awesome. This is our third year in a row. We are definitely booking next year too. The house, setting and gardens are spot on. It's only a short walk into Hay which is gorgeous. If you want somewhere a little out the way where you can play loud music, chill and dance badly, then this is the one.

Lovely and comfortable cosy and warm. Could do with a bigger table as there was 10 in our party and table only took 8 people, lucky for us we had 2 children so they could sit at a small table.

A great base for exploring Hay and the surrounding countryside. There is such a beautiful outlook from the cottage and lovely gardens. On a clear night the sky is simply amazing.

A lovely house in a spectacular location with stunning views. Comfortable and well equipped. Close to Hay with all its bookshops and antique shops. Also a good supermarket. Lovely walk down to the River Wye. Lots of wildlife- rabbits, buzzards, red kites, bats at dusk and owls hooting in the night. We loved it!
