Lovely little lodge, just right for the 2 of us. Beautifully clean and in a lovely setting. Had a very rural feel to it although it was only a few miles from town. Unfortunately there was a storm on the 3rd night of our stay which knocked out the wifi and, although i spoke to the owner and we tried to reset the wifi, it was never to be. It was actually quite nice to go retro and live without wifi for 4 days but some people might find this awkward. Many of the leaflets about places to visit showed the opening times and dates for last year and, as i had no wifi, I had to phone ahead and check. It was a good job as one place that we were going to visit showed as being open on one of the leaflets but when i rang was only open at weekends!!

Response on behalf of the owner; The internet went down in the entire area following a massive electrical storm. It took BT a few days to restore all properties in the area. It's the first time this has ever happened - just unfortunate. Don't want prospective guests to think there is an endemic problem! There isn't!

My husband and myself booked this lodge last minute to escape the hussle and bussle of everyday life. Booked 3 nights over the Easter weekend. We wanted a peaceful, relaxing, romantic retreat far from noise in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. This detached open plan lodge was absolutely perfect! Well equipped, completely spotless and nicely decorated. The wood burner came in handy on the chilly evenings which was lovely.. Great supply of wood etc inc. Beautiful well kept garden with a couple of sitting out areas, we had the pleasure of sitting out with a glass of wine watching the barn owl land on the garden fence, absolutely stunning! Wifi was excellent, we took our Apple TV with us and streamed films and the Internet never dropped out. Lots of information and guide books provided in the lodge. Was greeted with a welcome pack which was a nice touch! The only negative thing we found was the staircase up to the bedroom, bathroom (and only toilet) it was very steep and narrow anyone with mobility problems would really struggle. We would like to thank Guy for being a perfect host and look forward to returning to long thatch lodge in the near future to recharge our batteries again!

Wow. We loved the cottage and were taken wonderful care of by the owner, Guy. We did not want to leave. Everything was just right - the fire which kept us warm when the weather wasn't, the brilliant new kitchen with all mod cons, the new guidebooks and restaurant recommendations, the lovely gardens and patios, the laundry facilities which we direly needed, the comfy bed and fine linens which make all the difference to a stay (God is in the details), spit spot clean, great choice of TV, fresh flowers and a welcome pack of breakfast essentials, and Guy's beautiful chocolate box cottage next door in a bucolic setting. We could not have asked for anything more (well, maybe a shower). Thank you Guy for being a wonderful host.

What a lovely cottage!! Compact, yet with absolutely EVERYTHING needed provided. Wonderful 'middle-of-nowhere' peaceful location, yet only 10-15 mins from major road and rail links. Was made to feel very welcome by the host. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely cosy lodge.. A little slice of heaven. Exceptional host, very thoughtful and welcoming. The lodge had been set up beautifully for our arrival, roaring fire, Christmas tree and scrumptious array of goodies.. Even champagne reception! Enjoyed our stay immensely. So relaxing and quiet. Beautiful countryviews from all aspects. Highly recommend. Need to return ASAP !!

There was a really bad smell upstairs which seemed like sewerage,The owner did not seem interested in our comment on this.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner. The plumber, myself, the cleaner and my husband all attended within 2 hours of the first phone call. No-one could smell anything. The four of us attended the following morning after a further phone call. Once again, none of us could smell anything. Four people attended on two occasions as requested, none of us could detect any odour in any shape or form. Subsequent and former guests have given us great reviews and we believe our feedback speaks for itself. We take great personal pride in ensuring our guests have a wonderful stay.

We enjoyed our holiday in Long Thatch Lodge and found it very comfortable and well placed to tour the area and see all the sights and gardens. The cottage was very well presented and the surrounding garden and outside area was very nice. The only two things that were not suitable for us were the stairs to the bedroom as they were very narrow and the ceiling was quite low as we we are both quite tall we did find this a challenge at times. The bathroom is very clean and fresh but we are used to a shower and I must admit I did miss my shower. But on saying this it did not spoil our time in this fabulous cottage. The owner had left us a very nice welcome pack and half way through the week treated us to cakes from Waitrose a very nice thought.

Me and my girlfriend had a relaxing, quiet and comfortable stay. It is a lovely little lodge in a great location. We were welcomed by a fantastic welcome pack which including wine, tea, milk etc. Everything that we needed was there and it felt like a home from home. I would really recommend staying at this brilliant lodge.

A lovely small cottage, well decorated in a peaceful location. Loads of little touches added by owner to make the stay all the more enjoyable. The fridge had fresh milk ,tea, coffee & even biscuits greeted us. Soap, shampoo & body lotion was laid out beautifully on fresh towels. Wifi was reliable although mobile signal a little weak(lovely no calls). Only problem I had was the staircase, which was quite steep, which made it awkward to get to bathroom/bedroom(bad arthritis),but fully able visitors will have no issues. We would definitely recommend this and may even return one day.
