Had a great stay at Long Thatch over New Years. The lodge is really lovely, decorated very tastefully and has a cosy feel. Location is very rural but you are not too far from some nice pubs for evenings out. I would stay again for a short break. The only tiny issue was that the ceilings in the bedroom are low given its slanted and we are very tall so knocked out head at first, But that's a regular occurrence when you are tall. Overall a great stay! Would definitely recommend.

A delightful cottage and the owners do everything possible to make you comfortable, the drawback are the stairs. They are not easy to negotiate for the more mature and as there is no downstairs toilet there is the need to use them throughout the day.

A short relaxing break. Just what we wanted. Guy was extremely helpful and caring. Would highly recommend as a 'get away from it all' break.

We enjoyed our stay at Long Thatch Lodge. The lodge is very well equipped and comfortable. The garden is a delight and surrounding countryside beautiful. We found lots of good pubs and restuarants locally and also take-a-aways. We enjoyed watching the barn owl hunting in the field next to the lodge. There are lots of lovely places to visit in Suffolk so would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Had an absolutely brilliant stay at the lodge! There was wine, biscuits and tea bags on arrival and everything was extremely clean and tidy! The lovely rural location was so relaxing and the town centre was only ten minutes away in a taxi! Guy was so friendly and just on the other end of the phone if we needed anything. So pleased we picked this lodge for our break, hoping to return in the winter sometime!

A lovely, cosy cottage for a short stay. Only drawback would be the very steep 'paddle' stairs (Google them if you're not sure!) and the very steep roofline which impedes movement a bit upstairs. Otherwise - great! And very friendly, helpful owner on the other end of the phone.

relaxing and peaceful. extremely clean and lovely garden to sit in with a glass of wine 😀 only thing i would say is that there isn't a pub in walking distance which seems to be stated on the information.

Lovely little lodge, just right for the 2 of us. Beautifully clean and in a lovely setting. Had a very rural feel to it although it was only a few miles from town. Unfortunately there was a storm on the 3rd night of our stay which knocked out the wifi and, although i spoke to the owner and we tried to reset the wifi, it was never to be. It was actually quite nice to go retro and live without wifi for 4 days but some people might find this awkward. Many of the leaflets about places to visit showed the opening times and dates for last year and, as i had no wifi, I had to phone ahead and check. It was a good job as one place that we were going to visit showed as being open on one of the leaflets but when i rang was only open at weekends!!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The internet went down in the entire area following a massive electrical storm. It took BT a few days to restore all properties in the area. It's the first time this has ever happened - just unfortunate. Don't want prospective guests to think there is an endemic problem! There isn't!

My husband and myself booked this lodge last minute to escape the hussle and bussle of everyday life. Booked 3 nights over the Easter weekend. We wanted a peaceful, relaxing, romantic retreat far from noise in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. This detached open plan lodge was absolutely perfect! Well equipped, completely spotless and nicely decorated. The wood burner came in handy on the chilly evenings which was lovely.. Great supply of wood etc inc. Beautiful well kept garden with a couple of sitting out areas, we had the pleasure of sitting out with a glass of wine watching the barn owl land on the garden fence, absolutely stunning! Wifi was excellent, we took our Apple TV with us and streamed films and the Internet never dropped out. Lots of information and guide books provided in the lodge. Was greeted with a welcome pack which was a nice touch! The only negative thing we found was the staircase up to the bedroom, bathroom (and only toilet) it was very steep and narrow anyone with mobility problems would really struggle. We would like to thank Guy for being a perfect host and look forward to returning to long thatch lodge in the near future to recharge our batteries again!

Wow. We loved the cottage and were taken wonderful care of by the owner, Guy. We did not want to leave. Everything was just right - the fire which kept us warm when the weather wasn't, the brilliant new kitchen with all mod cons, the new guidebooks and restaurant recommendations, the lovely gardens and patios, the laundry facilities which we direly needed, the comfy bed and fine linens which make all the difference to a stay (God is in the details), spit spot clean, great choice of TV, fresh flowers and a welcome pack of breakfast essentials, and Guy's beautiful chocolate box cottage next door in a bucolic setting. We could not have asked for anything more (well, maybe a shower). Thank you Guy for being a wonderful host.
