Description

This charming, pet friendly, detached, family farmhouse is situated on a private estate and working farm, and boasts stunning countryside views.

Situated on the 6000-acre Lincluden Estate, these three detached properties are presented to the highest standards. They are located in remote settings on the edge of the moors with delightful woodland walks and hillside trails up into forests. It is an area hugely popular with walkers and cyclists of all abilities, and the Dalbeattie 7 Stanes cycling trail is also close by. There are many sandy beaches and forest trails to explore and many lovely gardens nearby as well for those seeking a slower pace of recreation.
The surrounding area offers a tremendous range of activities for the visitor. Golf courses, sailing, horse riding, cycling and walking are all available close by, and there are tennis courts and swimming-pools in nearby Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Dumfries. Fishing is available by arrangement at Glen Kiln Loch with the first day free of charge (any days after are chargeable at £8 per adult and £4 per child/OAP). Many quaint villages await exploration including the coastal villages of the Isle of Whithorn, Port William (known as the Machars of Galloway and presented with the Pride of Galloway award) and the popular village of Portpatrick with stunning views over the North Channel to the Irish coast. A trip to Ireland from Stranraer also makes for a good day out. Dumfries, with shops, restaurants, museums and theatre, lies 10 miles away, while Castle Douglas, Scotland’s Food Town (8 miles), is a traditional market town with shops specialising in local produce. There are also many beautiful beaches for holidaymakers to enjoy. Shop 5 miles, pub 5½ miles.

Great cottage in a lovely location. The cottage was warm and welcoming when we got there. It's such a peaceful location you can certainly relax and when the fire is lit in the lounge you don't want to be anywhere else. The bedrooms are very comfortable and cosy.. Lots of brochures for things to visit the only thing missing was information on possible walks from the cottage but it wasn't a problem. The large enclosed garden was great for the dog. There are farm buildings next to the cottage but you don't really notice them. Will definitely be looking to book again.

Our second visit to Lochenkit Farmhouse, 2 weeks of peace and relaxation in beautiful surroundings. Fantastic walks on the door step to the moors , loch, reservoir or through the woodlands seeing all sorts of wildlife on your journey. Fantastic for anyone who loves the outdoors. Its a great place and dog friendly too. A warm, cosy and comfortable property with a homely feel. Great facilities and equipment. Friendly estate staff. Lots of great places to visit from nearby Castle Douglas (The food town) which has a range of excellent shops for provisions, the park is located in the centre of town which is home to Carlingwalk loch (great success for fishing with Pike and Perch). Threave Castle and Gardens owned by the National Trust is also in the town and well worth a visit. A short drive and your at the Solway Coast with its breath taking beaches which run from Rockcliffe to Sandyhills. There are so many other places to visit and fun can be had by all the family. All in all a home away from home which is highly recommended.

Great place, difficult road to access, full of pot holes, cattle grids and soft verges! Beautiful location and property however somewhat tired in many areas and in need of maintenance. Baths, beds and bedrooms are beautiful with nice furniture and views out to countryside. Peaceful location, perfect place to write a book. A garden table is needed. A shortage of knives was also noticed and the cafetière is broken at the spout. There was very little toilet roll in the property and being so far away from the shops with four toilets i would expect there to be some. I was surprised also there was no welcome pack nor pint of milk after a long journey. Go well equipped so as to save any inconvenience as it is a long, bumby drive to the local shop.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for comments. Following your feedback, a brand new road has been put in leading to the property, there are no more issues regarding accessing the property. There is a garden table in the shed; we are looking into providing more cutlery in the property in future. We provide plenty toilet roll for the number toilets in the property.
