The cottage is poorly maintained, the seals on the doors and windows have rotted away or come off meaning that what heat the heaters provided was quickly sucked out cause the cottage to be extremely cold to the point where even with the heaters on we still had to wrap up in blankets to stay warm and not become ill from the cold, we could also see our breath inside the cottage both in the day and night, even with the heating on high, this is unacceptable, especially in the cold winter months. The kitchen area was not properly supplied, there was no washing brush or scourer, only a thin cloth which was not suitable for washing with. The fridge in the cottage needs replacing, we had to put the fridge on the highest setting in order to keep our food chilled and fresh and the freezer section of the fridge does not work, it didn't keep our frozen foods frozen, so foods like meats had to be cooked as soon as possible to prevent them from going rancid, so we were unable to keep any frozen foods for more than two days as they defrosted and needed to be either cooked or thrown out. The final issue was the shower, the temperature settings of the shower were uneven, there are four temperature settings on the shower, the first two are both freezing cold water with no heat, the third which is meant to be warm only has a very slight bit of warmth to it but is still cold, the forth and final setting is extremely hot!!! far to hot to shower under as it scolded our skin so we couldn't use it, this resulted in our having to have cold showers in an already freezing cottage which was uncomfortable and unpleasant. Quiet frankly I'm amazed that neither myself nor my partner became ill from the constant cold, we shall not be coming here again, i wouldn't recommend this cottage.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry that the accommodation did not meet your expectations. Regarding the heating, I can only point out that the control of this is entirely in the guest’s hands. The bedroom has 2 radiators, the lounge area has a 2kw living flame fire plus a warm air heater and the shower unit has a heated towel rail plus 2kw warm air heater. A dishcloth is provided in the kitchen area together with tea towel, paper kitchen towel and washing up liquid. A welcome pack comprising of milk, tea and biscuits were also provided. I have checked the fridge and this is working fine. As far as the shower is concerned, the 4 temperature settings have to be balanced out with that of the water pressure control which was explained to you on arrival. We have not had any previous complaints. The accommodation is inspected by both Visit Wales as well as the Holiday Agency at regular intervals.
