Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

A charming cottage with an open fire and a large garden bordering red squirrel woodland. Plas Newydd and beaches easily reached.

Built in the 1830s, Llety Pinc is situated near the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and is a delightful, single-storey detached holiday property, set in its own large lawned gardens, bordering red squirrel woodland with distant views of Snowdonia. The lodge house to Plas Llwynonn, this large listed property owned by the Marquise of Anglesey was once part of the Plas Newydd estate. All the land around the property is still owned by the estate, and the woods around the garden of the property have red squirrels. The fields are used by local farmers where cows and sheep graze.

The current owners have retained the charm of the property. Built of stone, there are very few straight lines. The tiled floor throughout adds to the authenticity, and the wooden, double glazed windows are a copy of the original windows. There has been two extensions over the past 50 years but this has not detracted from the charm of the building, but enhanced its space and delight. The décor is traditional, with added Welsh antiques, collectables and artwork. The dining room especially has typical Welsh furniture, including a 200-year-old Wlesh Anglesey dresser, a Llanrwst grandfather clock, cricket table and a glass cupboard filled with Welsh souvenirs and dolls. The house has antique and new art work of places in and around North Wales.

There is an excellent choice of books, many on Wales and Welsh custom. There are also toys, books, dressing-up clothes and much to occupy children too, all stored away neatly in a toy cupboard. The roof tiles are also a particular feature. A fish scale design made of Welsh slate, they are on only one side of the property, this was a saving measure by the Gentry of Plas Llwynnon as they wanted one side visible when travelling down the drive to look pleasing. The rest of the roof has square slate tiles.

This is a perfect location for exploring Anglesey with many opportunities for interesting days out, including rib rides and fishing trips on the Straits, stunning beaches, fabulous walking, golf, horse riding, historic Beaumaris Castle and of course, the Snowdonia National Park. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Large reception hall. Living room with open fire and garden door. Dining room. Kitchen. Utility room. Double bedroom with antique 5ft 6in bed. Twin bedroom. 2 bathrooms with roll-top bath, shower attachment, separate shower cubicle and toilet.

This cottage is decorated to a high standard with comfortable beds and situated in a quiet location. It was clean and well equipped. Local shops and Co-op supermarket are just a few minutes away in a car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found local attractions all within easy reach. There is a National Trust property within 5 minutes walk which is a definite must to visit. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

We had a most enjoyable stay. Host was the mostest and went out of her way to make our stay a memorable one.

As previous cottage owners we understand how much work and effort goes into presenting a cottage to this standard. The amount of Welsh memorabilia may be OTT for some tastes but there is no denying the quality and comfort level this cottage provides - outstanding. Ideally placed for exploring the heritage and natural wonders of North Wales with the added benefit that nearby Menai Bridge is blessed with a number of good restaurants
