Description

Commanding breathtaking views over the mystical Cych Valley, visit the towns of Cardigan, Carmarthen and Newcastle Emlyn from this property.

Within easy reach of the beaches of Cardigan Bay, these very comfortable cottages are peacefully set in large, expansive grounds and command breathtaking views over the mystical Cych Valley. Carefully converted and thoughtfully planned throughout, the interiors offer an ideal combination – old beams for character, multi-fuel stoves for cosiness and modern fittings for convenience. Within its acres of rural grounds are ruins of its 13th-century long house, set beside ponds, (toddlers beware), an ideal setting for adults to relax while supervising youngsters as they explore the pond life. There is a riverside pub with children’s play area within a 5-minute car journey.

The setting is perfect for making the most of both coast and countryside – sufficiently inland to avoid sea mists, yet convenient for the sandy coves of Cardigan Bay and the superb scenery of the Preseli Mountains and Pembrokeshire National Park. Teifi Valley and Gwili steam railways, the National Wool Museum at Dre-Fach Felindre and Coracles Health and Country Club all make for a fantastic day out. Cardigan, home to its castle and Wales’ biggest cultural festival, the Eisteddfod, and Carmarthen (both about half an hour by car) sport excellent golf courses. Pony-trekking, fly fishing on the River Teifi and the Coracle Centre at Cenarth Falls (famous for its seasonal salmon leap) can all be found within 10 minutes’ drive. And a real taste of Wales is available virtually on the doorstep; the neighbouring farm makes delicious traditional world-famous Caws Cenarth cheese.

This tranquil rural location is only 3 miles from delightful Newcastle Emlyn, with its good choice of shops, inns, award-winning restaurants and two delicatessens. This is an interesting town to explore, with a ruined castle, craft and antique shops and a leisure centre with swimming-pool. Shops 3 miles.

Killerby Old Hall and its 7 cottages are ideal for a countryside holiday whilst being less than 2 miles from the beach of Cayton Bay. Guests can enjoy the nature reserve and lake area, or relax in the indoor heated swimming pool. The accommodation ranges from the Old Hall, sleeping 10 in period splendour, through to cosy Crow’s Nest which sleeps 2. Set in a pretty courtyard, each cottage is different yet has its own sitting-out area with patio furniture and BBQ.

Cych Cottage (JUM) and Lletty Cottage (JJC) can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests (plus 2 travel cots).

This compact, comfortable single storey cottage has uninterrupted valley views from its private terrace. The ideal retreat for those just seeking peace and tranquillity, with a ’vista’, the full extent of which is difficult to catch on camera. Open-plan living/dining room with multi-fuel stove and French doors with steps to terrace. Galley-style kitchen. Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

an excellent week in a lovely but fairly remote location - there no 'activities' in the immediate area, but 15/20 minutes drive takes you to a main road with access then to Cardigan etc.

Horrible Cottage has a terrible damp problem, you could smell it when you walked in and the dehumidifier in the master bedroom confirmed my suspicions. Which sets itself going several times in the night. The double bed felt damp from the off and I will never put myself through that again. My boys room smelt horrible by the end of the week of damp Kitchen very small but doable Sorry but well overpriced and I felt very annoyed

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We note the client’s comments which came as a great shock to us. Our previous reviews scored 10 and no complaints of damp have, in 28 years of letting, ever been complained of. Entering the property upon your departure, we did find it damp and excessively overheated which came as a great surprise to us. The clients informed us on their arrival that they were on a "working" stay in that as a family of 3, they were to be working on an installation of a milking parlour in the area. Their 12 hour working days brought obvious restrictions to dry/air clothing externally during unpredictable weather. On such occasions, it has been an unfortunate practice for clients to dry clothes internally. The unfortunate knock on effect in a stone property with windows closed and heating turned up, is for a damp musty atmosphere to develop. The dehumidifier is in place to cover such circumstances but mainly to keep the cottage in good order over unoccupied winter months. Neither the property nor the beds were damp on your arrival! With the benefit of a 2 day gap since your departure, we were able to fully air the property and return it to its original comfortable condition with no complaints from the current occupiers. We, as conscientious Owners will be looking at installing a tumble dryer or offering - shared use of same in the future. We would like to stress to future guests that we believe this to have been a "one off" problem for the customer in exceptional circumstances and that we do hope that any future customers will not be put them off staying at our Cottage.
