Dating back to 14th century, traditional farmhouse only 1 mile from Mawgan Porth, with quiet footpaths and cycle trails, Truro is easily reached.

Dating back in part to the 14th century, Little Lanherne Farm stands detached with a lawned garden, a small meadow, and a terrace that is perfect for watching the sunset while enjoying an al fresco dinner. Set in approximately 2½ acres of land, this impressive former farmhouse is perfect for a special Cornish holiday, or special occasion to be shared with friends or family. The house is divided into two parts, the main house sleeping twelve and a self-contained annexe sleeping two. The beautiful village of St Mawgan - home to Japanese ornamental gardens, country pub and shop - is approximately 1 mile inland from Mawgan Porth (with cycle trail and quiet lane to beach). It lies halfway between Newquay and Padstow on Cornwall’s dramatic north coast - famous for its selection of excellent surfing beaches, surf school, cliff walks and Cornish Coastal Path. The area is well served with several local golf clubs, such as Trevose, Constantine and Newquay (all within 5 miles). Padstow is easily reached, where fine dining, fishing and boat trips, and cycling along the Camel Trail can all be enjoyed in this quaint fishing village made popular by TV chef Rick Stein. Newquay’s famous surfing beaches are within 3 miles, as are Newquay Zoo and two sports centres. Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, Fifteen, is at Watergate Bay just 3 miles away where there is a beach café and an extreme sport academy offering kite surfing, wind surfing and much more. Little Lanherne is ideally situated for visiting the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Bodmin Moor. Truro with many amenities is within 15 miles; Bodmin, St Austell, Falmouth, St Ives, Penzance and Lands End are all easily reached. For golfers, the Merlin Golf and Country Club is very close by. Sea fishing and coarse fishing available locally. Shops and pub 1 mile.

We had a great week at the cottage though it does need a little love and attention in some areas. The cottage is a great size and was ideal for our needs. It has one less bathroom than indicated on the original listing though that may now have changed. Some of the pans need replacing and the furniture outside was quite old and in some cases broken. One of the taps in the bathroom nearest the twin bedded room with the wooden floor was completely loose and fell off when trying to use it. There seemed to be an issue with the bins being collected as they had not been emptied when we arrived and were not emptied while we were there. I would not want any of that to detract from the cottage as it really is nice an we had a great time

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Little Lanherne. Thank you for your feedback on the house and I wanted to let you know that we stayed in the house ourselves very soon after your visit and addressed the issues you mentioned. Whilst there, we had a major overhaul of three of the showers in the bathrooms and mended the loose tap. We have also replaced the broken lounger (someone had let their children use it as a toboggan!) and a number of the patio chairs. With regards to the bins, collection of the regular bins is on Tuesday mornings and the bin men will only take rubbish if it is in black bags inside the bins. The recycling bins for glass, plastic etc. are emptied fortnightly which might explain why it looked like the bin-men hadn’t been? Just to confirm, there are five bathrooms in the property – three upstairs (one en-suite), one in the annex and a shower-room beside the utility room. It looks like the utility room shower-room has crept in twice on the details – our apologies! We will get the Agency to rectify that. Thanks again for the feedback.

Hidden and quiet. Lovely property for a larger group. Lots of space to mingle but also get away for some quiet as well.

Great holiday location in terms of closeness to Newquay and Padstow. Plenty of space and great facilities.

Generally all good with exception that for a luxe Ray property no welcome tray to make a cup of tea after 7 hours driving and bearing in moInd local shop shuts at 4pm had to make a special journey out again. Rented properties now for many many years and have never arrived to find. Nothing I've salt and pepper so some basics would have made a very big difference. Annexe room quite musty and damp feel so needs a look. Caretaker nice fellow but his visit to drop linen for next weeks visitors not appreciated at breakfast time on holiday and expecting a hand to lift supplies and search for stuff. When on holiday our peace is a must and changeover day is when this should happen. Loved the spacious lawn and outlook and of course Cornwall always wonderful even on the grey days!

It was a phenomenal house to stay in, situated in the most idilic environment for privacy and peace and quiet. The views were spectacular and loved coming back to the house sit outside with a glass of wine to end the day. This truly is a special place to go on holiday and we will all be back again soon enough. The only suggestion I have for the holiday home is we would have loved a washing line to dry clothes instead of using the tumble drier all the time. Other than that... brilliant!
