Description

Little Holm is perfect for keen walkers as there are many paths to explore and in the evenings, enjoy relaxing by the fire.

A cosy thatched cottage with roses round its door (left of photograph), Little Holme is typical of the pretty properties which make Lustleigh one of Devon’s most picturesque villages, and voted 18th in the Telegraph’s best English Villages in 2014. One of a pair centrally set on the village green, close to the church, it is convenient for the village shop, inn and restaurant. An ideal holiday location for walkers, with walks from the front door and on the surrounding moorland, which offers riding, bird-watching and touring (Widecombe, Chagford and Haytor are all close by). Teignmouth 30 minutes by car. Lustleigh hosts excellent country fairs every May Day and August Bank Holiday. Many excellent restaurants in Chagford and Ashburton. Shop 30 yards.

Entrance into cosy, beamed living room with inglenook fireplace and dining area. Beamed kitchen. First floor: Two bedrooms; one double and one small twin (2ft 6in beds). Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Little Holme is a lovely little cottage, it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It had some essentials, coffee, milk and sugar laid on for the "weary traveler" and a very welcoming bottle of wine, which was a very nice touch. We used the wood burner every night which helped provide a very cosy atmosphere. It was easy to stay in. The Cleave pub is also delight with a fabulous and tasty menu, it's also a only very short walk!

It was our first visit to the area and we have every intention of returning. The cottage is centrally located within a very friendly community. It has a well stocked village shop and an excellent dog friendly local pub serving good quality food. The village is a good base for walking with many scenic footpaths and bridalways in the vicinity. The cottage, even in early December, was so warm and comfortable that we did not bother to light the woodburner. Our only criticism would be that the oven control has no temperature indicator so we had to guess. The owner of the cottage was exceptionally helpful, going out of his way to look after our dog for the day whilst we attended a family wedding at a hotel some miles away.

Cosy cottage perfectly located for discovering Dartmoor and South Devon. Friendly village and excellent pub only 30 seconds from the door. Only small criticism is the occasional struggle to park. Overall though, would highly recommend and would visit again.

We loved our week in Little Holme. It really was a home away from home. The underfloor heating in the lounge made a wonderful start to the day and the wood burner felt like real luxury. It was immaculately clean and generally very well kitted out. The cooker was missing an oven and there was only a tiny frying pan (although Jean, who cleans the holiday homes, very kindly lent us one), but otherwise it was perfect!

A lovely old thatched cottage set in a beautiful friendly village on edge of Dartmoor. Lots of lovely walks from the door. Good pub next door and very good, well-stocked local shop. Lots of suggestions for walks in all weathers provided and not far from National Trust Castle Drogo. Welcome pack much appreciated. Many thanks for bottle of wine.

Picturesque cottage small and cosy, nice, clean and comfortable (Save for the bed which could do with a new mattress). Lovely of the owners to leave a bottle of milk and wine for our arrival. The village is real chocolate box pretty and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The food in the excellent local pub was of the very highest quality - restaurant quality but was also quite expensive for pub food . The Landlord and staff were very helpful and pleasant overall a very nice place to stay in Devon.

A lovely cottage but not for a family with a dog - more suited for a couple. Very picturesque village and some nice walks - be warned some lanes around the area are VERY narrow. Primrose Tea Rooms are closed - they are up for sale and sadly are not open at all. The Cleave Pub - approx. 50yds away from the cottage was very friendly and allowed dogs. Parking can be tricky at times - the village does attract a lot of visitors. Storage in the kitchen was limited and be aware that the freezer is VERY small. Main bedroom was a good size - plenty of space to hang clothes, end of bed is close to the wall so you had to move sideways to get past it. Second bedroom should really have been a single not twin - poor storage space and small beds, (Although this does say in the description of the cottage).

Whilst a lovely place to stay it really only suits 2. We took a large dog with us and without a garden it was difficult to have him outside with us. We didn't use the kitchen much but it seemed ok although there seemed to be too much crockery and not enough space to store food. The main bedroom is quite small and you have to shuffle past the end of the bed to get to one side. Perhaps the room needs re-planning but men of certain age may find getting up in the night a bit of an experience! The cottage is however very pretty and I lost count of the number of people who stopped to take photographs.
