Had a lovely relaxing time sitting in front of the log fire. A nice place to spend some time chilling. Looking forward to another holiday

We had a great time in Fort Augustus. The current cottage was lovely and in a great location. The only complaint we had was that there were a few things missing from the kitchen we would have liked (tongs, flat baking trays etc), and the beds were a little uncomfortable. But we survived just fine.

Great location for this cottage. Good sized rooms for 4 adults comfortably. Lounge and kitchen area good. Unfortunately the heating was not turned on prior to arrival and due to storage heaters it took the whole evening and most of the next day until the temperature was comfortable. It did not help that the outside temperature was ranging from -1 to a max of 2 degrees c. The TV is too small at 19 inches to see well from the large sofa. Due to the property not having been rented for a month or two it was very dusty and needed a good clean which unfortunately it did not get prior to our arrival. Overall great location with many walks from the front door into fantastic woodland and up on the hills overlooking Loch Ness and once we had done a spring clean it was a charming cottage which was a pleasure to stay in.

Location was lovely but the cottage appeared to have not been used was musty and all crockery, glasses and utensils needed cleaning before we could use them. The furniture was covered in throws but underneath the sofas were extremely dirty. The cottage would be fine for a couple for a few days if standards of cleanliness were improved. Generally I felt disappointed, there was no welcome pack to tell you the basics or recommend places, just a lot of junk leaflets & even a personally addressed letter in the draw. Even the feedback book was full and hadn't been replaced. The fire in the lounge and the views across the field were it's saving grace.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; It is always useful to get feedback on my cottage, also when there is room for improvement. I am sorry to hear that you found the cottage neglected. I am sure our caretaker puts in a lot of effort to prepare the cottage for the next guests to come. However, we took your comments seriously and gave the cottage a thorough cleaning. For hygienic reasons, we use throws over the couches. Our cottage welcomes a pet, but unfortunately not all dog owners keep their dogs under control and we often notice that dogs are on the couches. We can wash the throws but unfortunately we can’t wash the couches. However we gave the couches an extra good cleaning with a steamer. A brand new guest book was available in the cupboard next to the old guest book. On the website, you can find that we don’t provide a welcome pack with tourist information. Many guests first pay a visit to the Tourist Information at the big parking area in the village to get updated tourist information. Most people enjoy looking in the leaflets which other guests have left behind to see where to go. Especially in winter, there is a possibility that the cottage is not used for a while so it might be a bit chilly when new guests arrive although the caretaker always puts the storage heaters on a higher level and firewood is available for the wood burner. The cottage is in good condition now with a new load of firewood ready for new holiday makers.

Yet again, a lovely week in this beautiful part of Scotland. We love Little Forest Cottage - it's a bit basic, but that's part of its charm. Coming back from a long walk in the amazing scenery, lighting the woodburner and cooking a Sunday roast... bliss. We'll be back!

A really lovely cottage, great garden for my dog...grassed and large too. Only 2 miles to village/town, so location perfect....out of the way and quiet and not too far from shops. The tv only has the bbc channels, so best to take dvds with you. Lots of birds in the garden which we fed from the bird tables, lovely to watch them. Didn't see pine marten or golden eagle, but saw red squirrels fab ! Would recommend to others, a very peaceful cottage and area.

This cottage is in a fantastic location. So peaceful and with walks right from the door. It was not the cleanest cottage but very comfortable. It's a shame that the garden was a bit neglected with weeds and long grass but the dog loved it regardless. We liked the open plan layout, very cosy. The recycling calendar was out of date and there was no grill pan to cook with. None of this spoiled our holiday. I would go back again mainly for the location.
