Beautiful little cottage with superb hosts. Arrived to fresh free range eggs, a pint of milk and a loaf of bread. The eggs were amazing. Our children thoroughly enjoyed meeting the animals of the farm and the owners were extremely warm and welcoming. The cottage was a lovely size, quiet and quaint. In terms of improvements, there's very little on the list though a bathroom upgrade wouldn't go a miss, particularly the shower which lacks water pressure and easy temperature control. Do not let that pit you off staying here however as the location is stunning and I would gladly stay again! Will be very much recommending this to friends and family!!

Absolutely loved our stay at the cottage over Christmas! It was very cosy and well equiped. Our children loved helping with the animals and playing with the owners daughter, dogs and cat. The owners (Siobhan & David) were very welcoming and helpful. We received a welcome package of bread, cake, eggs and a poinsettia which was a lovely touch. Great location in beautiful countryside; plenty of villages/towns to visit within a 20 minute or so drive. We visited Bridgenorth, Bewdley, Ludlow, Cleobury Mortimer and Kidderminster.

the smell of log burner hit you as soon you entered the cottage the smell was acrid tar you could see were the tar had run down the chimney really needed to be swept the smell got to the back of both our throats so not as cosy as we thought plus the field where you could let the dogs off was very uneven and the grass was quite long so really overall to us it was not dog friendly as you could not just let them out you had to put the leads on and walk on a really dark unlit lane plus try and keep the dogs of the chairs overnight well not for us if knew we could have fetched some throws

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. Firstly, we're very sorry that you obviously didn't enjoy your stay. We make a very specific plea to all our guests that if anything isn't okay to tell us, otherwise we try to leave people alone. We did see and ask you but were told everything was fine. A wood burner does indeed produce an aroma, though I've never heard it described as 'acrid tar'. The chimney is due to be swept as soon as we have a vacant couple of days as it is being used again after the summer. It is swept every six months. Regarding the dogs, we do ask that they are kept downstairs and off furniture as not everyone who stays is a dog lover. We also tell people (and it is in the welcome notes) that they are free to walk their dogs anywhere in the property grounds which includes a very large flat sand school as well as six fields. Finally, I'm afraid yes, the cottage is in the country so the lane is dark - we like it this way though we do of course provide a torch for our guests!

Really enjoyed long weekend here and cottage was exactly as expected. If this was my place I would put double glazing in as noise from surprisingly busy road impacted negatively on our stay. Enjoyed the wood burner and kitchen had all that we needed but I would have liked a DVD player. Also anyone with any aversion to dog hair would be better off elsewhere.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your comments and were pleased you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry to note your comment regarding pet hair as though we are indeed dog friendly, we certainly endeavour to ensure the cottage is thoroughly cleaned and that dogs are not allowed on the furniture or upstairs.

This was our second stay at little duckling cottage but won't be our last. The cottage has everything we need and the hosts are so friendly and welcoming we felt very at home. The cottage is clean and cosy with rural walks across the commons from your front door and many other attractions a short drive away. We love staying here and find the animals and the countryside so relaxing. We will definitely stay again.

We were looking for a basic cottage in the countryside for a few days away with our 4 year old and 1 year old. This was the ideal place for us with plenty to see at the farm - a warm welcome and lots of toys too. The family were very hospitable and involved our little girl in some farm activities such as feeding the horses. A great base for days out in the severn valley with lots of places to explore within an hour by car. Definitely somewhere we will consider staying again.

Very welcoming pretty cottage nice and cosy but didn't feel small for our mother daughter holiday. Lovely setting with well looked after garden and animals. Beautiful scenery in Shropshire. Would go back and stay at Little Duckling again
