Description

Discover the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, Yorkshire coast and city of York from this well-placed stone barn conversion.

Tucked away on the owners’ working livestock farm, these two holiday properties (ref 29352 and 29353) form two of five sympathetic conversions of old stone barns. The farm is home to a herd of cattle, alpacas, pigs, sheep, horses and chickens (fresh eggs available). Tastefully furnished, they successfully combine the old with the new to create an ambient atmosphere for simply relaxing, touring or walking direct from the door. The local village inn serves excellent food and is a 10 minutes’ stroll away, whilst the bustling market town of Thirsk is just 4 miles away and offers a wide range of restaurants, shops, cafes and pubs, together with the James Herriot Museum and Thirsk Racecourse. Sutton Bank is renowned for its exceptional long distance panoramic views from where you may wish to watch gliders take full advantage of the strong thermals. There is easy access to two National Parks (the Yorkshire Dales and the rugged scenery of the North York Moors) and the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough. Alternatively, the quaint picturesque town of Helmsley is a short drive and the historic city of York makes for a full day out. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Ground floor: 3 bedrooms: 2 double, one with TV and en-suite shower room and toilet, one twin. Bathroom with shower over bath, and toilet. First floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beam.

Blu-ray. Dishwasher.

Both properties: Biomass central heating, electricity (solar panels), bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair available on request. Electric cooker. Microwave. Shared washing machine and tumble dryer in external utility room. Freezer. Wi-fi. Shared gravelled courtyard with furniture. Gas barbecue available on request. Parking (2 cars). Fabulous break! A wonderfully warm welcome, beautiful cottage, clean and fresh with top class facilities and lots of space. Freedom to wander and see the animals around the farm and a great base for walking.

Fantastic on every level. Owners attention to detail was lovely and they were so friendly, made our Christmas very special. Walks from the doorstep and a lovely local pub. The cottage is very spacious and perfect for our family getaway (party of 5, grandparents, parents and a 5 yr old). We will be back, without a doubt 😁

Ed and his family were very welcoming and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. We were blessed with very warm weather and as we were staying in an 'upside down' house, the living room and kitchen being upstairs, was very warm in the evening. The property is very central for lots of nearby attractions.
