Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Nestled in the charming village of Blisworth, in south Northamptonshire, opposite the village pub, lies this cosy two bedroomed thatched cottage.

The property boasts a warm and welcoming atmosphere with plenty of space for a small family or couples holidaying together. After a brisk walk along the many pathways and bridleways surrounding the village, head back to Lindisfarne and relax in front of the open fire.
The Grand Union Canal flows through the village, where you can walk along the scenic tow path and spot local wildlife, or take a boat ride through Blisworth Tunnel - one of the longest tunnels in England. There is an annual canal festival held in the village in August where you’ll discover trade boats, stalls, food and drink, a fun day out for all the family. Visit the surrounding villages of Stoke Bruerne with its canal museum, pubs and restaurants. Rookery Open Farm is close by where you can get up close to a variety of animals, take a picnic and learn about farming methods, ideal for a great day out with your little ones.
There are many National Trust properties in the area to visit, including Stowe, Canon’s Ashby, Claydon, Farnborough Hall and Upton House and Gardens. For the shopaholics, take a visit to the CentreMK in Milton Keynes with over 200 shops and restaurants, or for luxury shopping, take a trip to Bicester Village, a wide range of designer outlet stores. For a bit more adrenaline, Silverstone circuit and Towcester racecourse are close by. Milton Keynes is 15 miles away and has something for everyone including a theatre, lakes with watersports and Xscape with an array of activities including a ski slope, indoor skydiving, bowling, cinema, climbing wall, restaurants and many outdoor pursuit themed shops. Living in a back-to-back I am used to "small" but this really did feel cramped for 4 adults. I can't really criticise as I think the listing made this clear and we were being hopeful. Considering the lack of other holiday cottages in the area the price was reasonable but in comparison to other places I have stayed in the UK it was a little expensive. Parking was pretty difficult in the village but again to be expected for the area. Overall it was fine for a short weekend break.

The cottage provided everything we wanted for our week but was not as good as other cottages we have stayed in for the same price. The overall feeling that although it was described as spacious it was a bit cramped, especially the bathroom and we couldn't imagine having to share the property with another couple of adults.

We enjoyed our stay at Lindisfarne Cottage and its location was perfect for my husbands business trip to Northampton. We parked conveniently down the side street by the cottage and were able to enjoy the evenings sitting in the pretty garden. I feel the cottage would be very cramped for 4 adults, and there is a lot of traffic noise going by. However the bedrooms were very pleasant and comfortable and everywhere was spotlessly clean and the kitchen well equipped except for no freezer compartment in the fridge.

Location is right on a busy road opposite a busy pub, with no car parking immediately outside. There were two of us staying but felt that for four it would be uncomfortable. We felt that it was, for these reasons, overpriced.
