Les Farinettes is a charming, well designed and comfortable studio with a beautiful view over the hills. It is very close to the centre of Menerbes at the top of rugged steps up from the property where there is a small general store where you can buy most basics, a bakery that sells delicious croissants and at least 5 restaurants. The studio has 3 terraces so you can follow the sun but the triangular window beside the dining table is the best - what a view! The lounge is comfortable and airy with a high ceiling and there is a large cupboard off it to store clothes and shoes. It is an addition to the top floor of the next door house (attached by a door that is locked). The studio is well equipped with a good kitchen- hob, oven and dishwasher (but no washing machine or microwave) and the space is well used. The bedroom has a sloped roof and is partitioned off from the rest of the studio by a substantial bookcase which works very well. The shower room is a little dark and lacks ventilation but the rest of the studio balances that. We didn't use the pool but it looked lovely. You have to walk along the road a short way to get to it (maybe that was a factor and the weather wasn't scorching). Menerbes market is on Thursdays. There is also a garage within walking distance (say, if you need to have a puncture repaired! Very efficient.) Menerbes is near several similar hilltop villages, but the village itself has plenty of strolls to keep you discovering it for a few days and then you can go further afield if you want to. I'd thoroughly recommend staying here. It's really different and being able to walk into the village is an enormous advantage. It's quiet too (apart from occasional noise from the school down the road - I loved that. We didn't see any children but we heard them!) There are plenty of books both in English and French to borrow while you're there. The owner is very friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. The parking across the road was shaded.
