The cottage was spacious and very well equipped. There was a generous welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, chocolates, etc,, and the fire had been lit before our arrival. The only reason for not giving a perfect score was the front and rear access to the cottage. The description should have stated there there were uneven, crazy paved pathways and steps to the front and back doors. These were difficult and slippery to walk on when wet, so the cottage would not be suitable for very young children or some old people.

Absolutely superb cottage. Spotlessly clean. Couldn't fault it. Already re-booked. Great location, so peaceful. Locals were lovely and friendly and chef at the unicorn couldn't have been more helpful (glutten intolerant). The best dog friendly cottage we have stayed in. Worth more than the 4 stars given. Well done Liz and Karen. Very impressed. Xxx

This is a lovely cottage that is far bigger on the inside than it looks outside, the cottage has everything you could need and was very comfortable and it is in a nice little village with many walks and a pub that does very good food and we thought very good value.

This cottage was so unique I am lost for words. Where can you stay that is virtually in the grounds of a castle. So welcoming and homely that we felt we belonged there. This has got to be the best holiday ever. We make a point of never going to the same place twice but this one has got to be the exception. We will return !

Excellent cottage very dog friendly. Walks from the doorstep and central for visiting both Durham and the Yorkshire Dales. Welcome pack well received and even included something for our four legged friends. Especially liked the bath!!

We had a great week in the cottage. Our Springer Spaniel especially enjoyed the snow which he had never seen before. The people in the local pub also made a fuss if him whilst we ate an enjoyable meal. A lovely location and a great cottage with everything you could expect. The only thing that let it down slightly was the small bed in the main bedroom.
