A beautiful three level cottage that was clean, well equipped and centrally located in a cute village, close to all services and the local pub. The cottage easily accommodated 2 couples and was a great place to spread out for a couple of nights. Close to the beautiful Buckfast Abbey - we had a lovely stay at Lavendar Cottage.

Surprisingly spacious for a two bed cottage, no shower cubicle upstairs. Very well equipped would suggest a coffee table in the lounge.

Was seeking escape with home comforts along with peace, quiet and surrounded by friendly people. Found it and will return to same cottage and town. Always use public transport this didn't cause any problems while there either.

A super cottage, tastefully decorated and furnished, in a convenient location to explore Dartmoor. Our children loved their cosy bedroom and games room downstairs. Very clean, no hint of dogginess!!!

It's a nice cottage and as advertised - suitable for 4 people. However, the requirement to checkout by 10:00 on a Sunday is a huge problem - there is nowhere in the town open before 11:00 so the only option is to leave the area. Additionally, the complete lack of bathroom products except liquid hand soap made bathing unpleasant. Finally, the price is very high for only 2 people given the area. It probably makes sense for a family of 4.

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry that you were unhappy with your stay at Lavender Cottage. Unfortunately we have to ask people to leave by 10.00am to ensure that the caretaker has plenty of time to clean the property before the next guests arrive. If the 10.00 am departure caused a real problem you could have spoken to the cleaner and I am sure that she would have tried to accommodate a later departure time if it was possible. This is a self catering property and as such we are not expected to leave anything for the guests. We do however leave tea, coffee, sugar, toilet rolls, washing up liquid and hand soap so that you have all the necessities when you arrive.

Comfortable. well equipped cottage. Nice and central for sight-seeing and near the A38. Shops and restaurants close to hand. On the downside, as we had two cars, we had to sort out car parking in the pay car park as there are restrictions in the street but not a difficulty after first couple of days.

Lavender Cottage was clean and decorated to a high standard and it makes a good base from which to tour the surrounding area. We did miss a garden however and the back of the property did not really give anywhere relaxing to sit out. A mixed blessing was the amount of crockery and glasses - perfect for a banquet but left nowhere to put food and there was no freezer compartment in the fridge, or separate freezer. I suppose it was assumed that everyone eats out but we can't afford to.The internet connection was unreliable. The steps down to the basement (where the shower, washer and game room is) definitely need a handrail!

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry that you were not entirely happy with your stay at Lavender Cottage. We have a lot of crockery in the property so that people do not have to keep washing up or risk running out. We have now cleared two large cupboards in the kitchen for guests to put their food. We don’t have a freezer compartment in the fridge as we feel that this would make the fridge space too small, we do however have a separate freezer in the cellar room. The internet connection has never caused a problem before and most guests say that it is very reliable. We are unsure about your comment on the handrail as there is a handrail on the right hand side of the stairs.

A lovely property in a glorious village, plenty to do in the area, only downside is the parking restriction outside the house. Well maintained and very clean and tidy, would definitely recommend it to others.

This cottage was a perfect base to explore the surrounding area, close to Dartmoor but also not far to the coast. Lovely decor, incredibly well equipped kitchen and lots of information in the folders. Friendly and well stocked local shops. Great that a season ticket was available for the car park. The only criticism (and this is really nit picking and didn't spoil our stay) was that someone had allowed their dog(s) to sit on the sofas, which were covered with dog hairs. The owners have throws to put on the sofas if dog owners want their dogs to sit there but the last visitors obviously didn't bother, which is quite disrespectful to both the owners and the next visitors, ie us! This was soon enough remedied by getting the vacuum out, although that wasn't what I was wanting to do on my first day of being there! I felt very relaxed and would definitely make a return visit.
