A cosy, character cottage with beams, ideal for discovering the market towns and Jurassic Coast of Dorset.

Situated in the pretty village of Burton Bradstock, within easy walking distance of a lovely beach with a renowned seafood café. From there, many pleasant hours can be spent following the Chesil Beach coastal walk, from which spectacular views can be enjoyed of the stunning countryside and rugged coastline. The character stone cottage is the end one of a row and located just 2 miles from the bustling market town of Bridport and the harbour at West Bay. The World Heritage Jurassic Coast from Weymouth to Exmouth can be discovered, with fossil hunting at Charmouth, superb coastal walking and the popular resorts of West Bay and Lyme Regis close by. Many other family attractions are within easy driving distance, including Abbotsbury Swannery (the world’s only managed colony of nesting mute swans), Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, Mapperton House and Gardens, beaches at Golden Cap, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, beautiful villages such as Puncknowle and the historic market town of Dorchester. Nice warm cottage and good garden area but disappointing due to unexpected traffic noise from being right on main road through village, shower not working (and not fixed all week) drains blocked, safe key box stuck shut, kitchen floor not clean on arrival nor appliances and other maintenance issues.

A really lovely cottage in the most superb location - a small village with a 15 minute walk to the Burton Bradstock beach. Three pubs, a village shop and petrol garage within 10 minutes walk. The cottage itself was great value for money - large family kitchen and lounge. Very homely. Underfloor heating was nice but took a little time to warm up (the weather outside was very cold). A great location for walks and a short drive to small local towns for more amenities if needed. Highly recommended for location and comfort in the cottage.

Nice places to stay, near the beach and not to far from Bridport. Parking is a bit of a challenge as the entrance is tight but doable. Very nice house, plenty of room for the family.

Being an old cottage condensation was a problem, ie could not keep clothes within built in wardrobes as they would have been damp and musty, curtains damp in mornings. Could not find key to back door which could have been a problem if there was a fire in the cottage. Outside PIR lights dis not work, which made steps to back door a problem in the nights. No hairdryer provided.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for the feedback. We have refitted the dehumidifiers and aired the cottage which has solved the moisture issue. We have also replaced the missing key and the bulb to the outside light.

We had a great stay at Lavender Cottage, a spacious and well-appointed property in a beautiful village - a great location for exploring the Dorset Coast and surrounding area where there's lots to see and do. We found the Burton Bradstock village community very welcoming. The house was clean, comfortable and stocked with all the seating, cutlery, nice bedding and large towels we needed. The house also had good WiFi provision, an added bonus which was not advertised when we booked.

It is a lovely cottage , furnished lovely too. Very specious . It is a bit noisy as living room close to the main road which has no footpath to divide it.

Generally ok but one or two things could have been better. Clothes damp in wardrobes. No crystals in de-humidifier boxes throughout the house. Ivy roots growing in through walls in wardrobe. Fluff under sofas in lounge. very nicely situated in centre of village.

The owners let down this property. The shower did not work and we spent the whole week chasing to get it fixed and left a week later having not had a shower. When we fedback to the owner he told us the shower was never advertised as part of the cottage. Not sure why he didn't tell us that when we reported the problem? Full rubbish bin, rusty BBQ, not enough hot water to rely on 5 people having to have a bath everyday, loose tap in kitchen and poor flush in downstairs toilet.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Apologies again for the problem with the shower, as expressed at the time in person. We did everything we could to get it fixed as soon as possible, but that was complicated by the Bank Holiday on the Monday, followed by a delay as a replacement needed to be ordered. A brand new shower is now in place and the other problems have been fixed. In response to other customer requirements, Wi-Fi is being installed on 10 July.
