Cottage was nice, lovely location. Some items in kitchen cupboards not clean. Seal around oven door coming away. Furniture comfy, log burner was fab. Plenty of bedding provided and towels (a bit on the scratchy side though). Cottage manual not clearly labelled or prominantly located which led to some confusion on how to work dishwasher, but owner was welcoming and helpful. We've stayed in nicer places but paid a lot more for them. We felt Laurel cottage was excellent value for money, particularly as we booked for October half term.

Excellent location. Comfortable cottage. Interesting garden with Roman and medieval remains. Instructions for the dvd would have been useful.

We did have a really nice weekend but think that this was more to do with the weather and the things we did. This could be a nice cottage but felt the owners had one eye more on the money than the welfare of the people in the cottage. Make sure you bring all basic supplies as literally nothing is supplied. We did manage to get half a loo roll and 2 logs for the woodburner but would say this was left over from the previous visitors as so many people commented in the visitors book that they arrived late to find nothing at all.The cottage is adjoining their house but they don't like you walking past so you're forced to walk through the garden to get to the door.It was a lovely autumnal weekend when we went so the grass was very wet with the dew.We had 3 season walking trainers on but they were soaked by the time we got to the car.The cooker didn't work but to be fair the owners rectified the problem even though they patronised us by asking if we had turned the cooker on at the wall. The oven I don't think had ever been cleaned and was disgusting.I do think though with some minor touches this could be a nice cottage as it's in a lovely spot and is quite pleasant in some ways but let down by other things.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; I appreciate you leaving feedback but I hope you do not mind me correcting a few facts. As an accommodation provider with ten year’s experience in the UK and France we work really hard for our guests, sometimes we don’t get it 100% right, but that is rare. We want our guests to have happy memories and many people do return year after year. We have definitely let a couple of guests down regarding loo roll and now ensure there are a couple of spares. Logs are not supplied unless requested in advance, so we clearly ask guests with the Welcome letter to ask us if they would like to buy some wood. We don’t make anything from this – it is just to cover the cost of what we buy in. I am not sure what you mean about basic supplies, our guests are self-catering holiday makers who bring their own food items. There is a basic set of tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. We try to ensure there is soap, washing up liquid, a couple of dishwasher tablets etc. and I am sorry if this wasn’t the case and we let you down. Regarding the entrance, it is untrue to say we don’t like guests walking past! In the Welcome Letter it clearly states that we are happy for guests to use the patio – it is not a problem. We like seeing the guests so we can check if they need anything. My apologies if you though I was patronising about the cooker, please appreciate that I had to go through a series of checks to rectify the problem. What is unforgivable is the state of the cooker, I am mortified that it was not up to scratch but can assure you it had been cleaned in the past and will be checked in future. Our Reevoo ratings for cleanliness have always been high. However, we clearly let ourselves down and hand on heart I will ensure we have a spotless cooker so we can continue to pride ourselves on a clean, fresh Cottage and a positive experience for our guests.
