Out of the village, did not like the single track road!! The cottage was warm and cosy. The lake was very nice. Just short of a small freezer

We found the property owners to be very friendly and most helpful - in fact, they literally went out of their way to help us sort out a problem we encountered which had nothing to do with the cottage. We found a complimentary box of useful items on our arrival eg unopened packets of biscuits, chocolate, tea-bags, coffee, sugar along with milk in the fridge which was very thoughtful. The village and location was delightful. My first sight of Finchingfield was when the cyclists went through it on TV on one leg of the Tour De France which began in England in 2012 I think it was. The race commentators mentioned that its chocolate-box appearance made it one of the most photographed villages in the country. With a white windmill and church tower with its funny little spire rising above the skyline of rows of beautifully maintained white cottages (some of them with thatched roofs), quaint little brick-built, hump-back bridge over a stream in the village green with post-office, pub and tea-shops nearby makes it a winner...say no more. it was very secure with parking outside the cottage door and in easy reach of many places of interest eg Bury St.Edmunds, Colchester, Chelmsford and many other attractive villages.

We had a lovely time , very relaxing and quiet. The owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The facilities were basic but the skies were great for astronomy , my husband's passion.
