We found the property owners to be very friendly and most helpful - in fact, they literally went out of their way to help us sort out a problem we encountered which had nothing to do with the cottage. We found a complimentary box of useful items on our arrival eg unopened packets of biscuits, chocolate, tea-bags, coffee, sugar along with milk in the fridge which was very thoughtful. The village and location was delightful. My first sight of Finchingfield was when the cyclists went through it on TV on one leg of the Tour De France which began in England in 2012 I think it was. The race commentators mentioned that its chocolate-box appearance made it one of the most photographed villages in the country. With a white windmill and church tower with its funny little spire rising above the skyline of rows of beautifully maintained white cottages (some of them with thatched roofs), quaint little brick-built, hump-back bridge over a stream in the village green with post-office, pub and tea-shops nearby makes it a winner...say no more. it was very secure with parking outside the cottage door and in easy reach of many places of interest eg Bury St.Edmunds, Colchester, Chelmsford and many other attractive villages.

Owners are very friendly and will do all they can to make your stay pleasant. The cottage is fully equipped for your needs. Even had milk bread butter and little treats waiting for me on arrival

Lovely cottage ideally placed for visits to both Bury St Edmunds and Colchester. Suited me perfectly but note is a 20 minute walk from village

Charming little cottage which suited our needs. The owners were very friendly and helpful and thoughtfully provided a welcome pack which was very much appreciated. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable, apart from the sofa which was a futon that we found to be very uncomfortable. Overall well maintained and clean, although the oven and hob as well as pots and pans could use a little more respect by people benefitting from the facilities offered by the owners.

Of particular note was the amount of items available for use and they were of decent quality. The welcome pack was excellent and the couple were friendly and helpful. We are in fact returning to the same venue next week for a few days. The location is very much off the beaten track but suited us fine but would not be for everybody. Isolated a little and far from the madding crowd. Our idea of just what we wanted. Brian and Irene .

staying at Lake House Cottage gave us a chance to see the "real England". Finchingfield was a beautiful village from which to explore other areas off the tourist track. The owners, Dave and Jackie, were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

This was a lovely little cottage for a long weekend. It was well appointed and looked after by the owners. Fantastic for people who fish as there is a fishing lake on the doorstep. The property is what we call "the back of beyond". It is hidden down a long lane and thus you have peace and quiet, perfect for rest and relaxation from the hubbub of the busy towns. There are towns and attractions not too far away and within easy reach by car/motorbike. I would not hesitate in coming back again.

Weather was good for our planned program of family history research & visiting. Not sure what you mean by Location? It is where it is - and we knew that. The owners could not change the location. It would be no good wishing it was located elsewhere. We chose it because it was a location suitable for our needs.
