Description

Visit Oban from this property, just 3 miles away and brimming with many attractions, shopping facilities and fine eating establishments.

Lagnakeil Lodges are set in a truly unique and unrivalled location. The beautiful Scottish land of mountains, lochs and islands can be experienced from the comfort of these well-equipped, single-storey, detached holiday lodges (refs 30897, 30898, 30899, 30900, 30901, 30902, 30903, 30904, 30905, 30906, 30907, 30908, 30909, 30910, 30911, 30912 and 30913), all set in their own large private grounds situated overlooking the sea Loch Feochan. The lodges are nestled throughout 7 acres of scenic wooded hillside in the peace and calm of Lerags Glen. Only three miles from Oban town centre, the ’gateway to the isles’, this picturesque harbour town is the unofficial capital of the West Highlands. Oban means ’little bay’ in the old Gaelic tongue and with its many attractions, shopping facilities and fine eating establishments, known as ’the seafood capital of Scotland’, it is ideal for those wishing to relax and explore. The town was first made popular in the time of Queen Victoria. She called it ’one of the finest spots we have seen’ and from the early 1800s, visitors flocked to the place aboard the Comet steamship which linked Glasgow and Oban. The Inner Hebrides consist of Kerrera, Lismore, Mull (with the small town of Tobermory which has become famous as ’Balamory’) and the granite mountains of the Morvern Peninsula. Beyond them are Coll, Colonsay, Tiree and Iona. All are accessible to visitors through organised trips. Ferries to the islands run regularly. There are lots of activities for all the family, ranging from an exciting boat trip, a visit to Oban Distillery or any one of thirty spectacular gardens, to the Atlantis Leisure Centre with its water slides, the intriguing Oban War and Peace Museum, and the The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary, a spectacular aquarium with a busy rescue facility for abandoned seal pups. Over 50 natural marine displays with talks and feeding demonstrations throughout the day every day. Discovering the surrounding countryside is fun - horse riding at one of Oban’s many riding schools or perhaps take in a round of golf at Oban’s 18-hole golf course. Oban’s tourist information centre in Argyll Square is a great place to find out what’s going on in the area during your stay. Take to the clear waters around Oban and Lorn for sailing, sub-aqua diving, canoeing and sea angling, or cruise to the head of Loch Etive for a unique experience. Lagnakeil’s well-appointed lodges and cosy cottages are set in a haven of tranquillity that is guaranteed to revitalise the most world-weary guest. Yet only a short walk up the glen, a country pub can be found serving home-cooked food and ales. This is truly a magical place for all ages! Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile (1/2 mile on foot) and restaurant ½ mile.
