There are two cottages on the same plot. Both giving beautiful views over the Moray Firth. We have visited twice and on both occasions the other cottage has been empty. We imagine though that privacy would be an issue if both were booked. Kites View is now looking slightly tired and the sofas are in need of replacing. No real support in them. However the cottage is bright and cheery with fantastic views

Excellent cottage, well equipped in a stunning location. Don't be put off by the steep drive up to the cottage it's not as bad as it looks. Everything you need is included at the cottage, and the welcome pack was a nice touch.

We had a very relaxing trip away from 29th December to 4th January. We loved the comfort and space in Kite View. Really lovely living room/kitchen area - very open and with a stunning view over the Moray Firth. The kitchen was well equipped and liked the fridge with the slide out shelves. Everything was very modern and immaculately clean. Highly recommend this place. Our only disappointment was that the Station Hotel in Avoch was not open on Hogmanay (bar closed at 8) and we couldn't book a taxi from Fortress as there are only a handful around and all were fully booked for Hogmanay. We also liked that over the festive period the owners had a Christmas tree up for guests at Kite View.

Such a beautiful house in a breathtaking location. Perfect for our relaxing family break. (Please note the second bedroom is really a single bedroom with 2 beds in it: perfect for younger children but maybe a bit tight for older ones)

A very well equipped cottage with just about everything you need to be a comfortable home from home. Particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck outside the lounge to enjoy the sun and spectacular coastal views.

Great view but very steep hill single track road up to Cottage after leaving road to Avoch beach. I called it the roller coaster on the way back down. Dolphin boat trip at Avoch harbour a must,£16 each person. Dog friendly restaurant at Andersons in Fortrose very good food and friendly barman. Right next to ancient Fortrose Abbey. Channery Point a nice beach walk and dolphin spotting at low tide, 10 mins away. A9 to John o Groats and Thurso very dangerous, especially on the way back when you are on the cliff side of the road. Take care. A lot of whisky distilleries nearby.Rogie falls a must, on the way to Ullapool, not far from Dingwall. 1 hour drive to Ullapool on the West coast Highlands,a really surprising seaside town, nice ice cream sold from a B&B at the point.Cawdor castle and Culloden visitor centre(battlefield very atmospheric) also nearby. Dunnet Bay , near Thurso, has a fantastic 2 km long high sandy cliff and beach. There is a half hourly ferry from Cromarty across to Nigg and Invergordon , a really nice restaurant in Cromarty named after the Souter hill above but advised to book even on rainy days. From Nigg a short drive to Grannies Heilan Hame near Dornoch. The Clootie Well at Munlochy and the Fairy Glen at Rosmarkie are also advised. The Fairy Glen has rocks to cross near the falls and there is a way back along the main road, but no fences and a long way down if you wander too near the edge, just like parts of the A9 on the way back from Wick. The cottage looks over to a hill where Andrew De Moray (of Sir William Wallace fame)lived and is a pleasant walk although you have to go close to the farm but cut off just before it. Too much to do in one week, suggest a 2 week holiday and no midgies seen on our week in July.

Excellent cottage, magnificent views, well located for the Chanonry Point dolphins, which was our reason for visiting. Highly recommended.
