A very comfortable, homely cottage. It is very clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and a good night sleep was welcome. Instructions were left for the heating and hot water. The cottage is great for visiting the borders and east coast. The small garden will be lovely in the summer for eating out. The group I was meeting came for coffee and loved it. Definitely worth a visit.

Home from home, very sweet gestures with little touches like tea and milk and washing up liquid. We adored the stay, as did our dog. Cosy and friendly and a fantastic base.

well equiped for all our holiday needs.Very good & friendly pub within 50yds. Great position for touring borders,East coast up to North Berwick & down into Northumberland.Village shops useful & handy but large supermarkets wthin 15 mins drive. A nice little rear courtyard with table & chairs along with a barbeque. Only downside was doggy smell in downstairs hall & bedroom, despite the numerous air fresheners, but do realise cottage is pet friendly! We had a really enjoyable stay at Kirkgate!

Had a lovely time with glorious weather for the time of year. Staff and locals at Waterloo Arms were very welcoming. Enjoyed lots of walks with our dog.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage and all equipment was spotlessly clean. We appreciated being welcomed with a lit fire. The dog was well provided for too with fleeces to protect chairs and easy access to an enclosed courtyard from the kitchen. We enjoyed the DVD collection and noticed several games and toys that would delight younger visitors. Parking was good and we appreciated the quiet location. The hen-themed home furnishings made us smile.

We loved the cottage especially the open fire. We rearranged the furniture sister we were there so hat we were sitting around the fire. Upstairs bedroom could do with a chest of drawers. These are minor issues as the cottage was lovely
