Good walking and cycling base

This traditional Chiltern cottage is located in the rural village of Little Kingshill and offers accommodation of a very good standard. It lies adjacent to the owners’ working farm where cattle and horses are kept. The Chilterns is an area of AONB and is situated between London and Oxford and the region offers superb scenery, tucked-away villages and market towns. This holiday cottage is ideally located to enjoy Buckinghamshire’s lovely countryside walks and bridleways and makes an ideal base for walking, trekking and cycling holidays. The farm is in close proximity to the historic Ridgeway Trail and is not far from the start of the ancient Icknield Way at Ivinghoe Beacon. There are several stately homes and NT properties in the area; Chequers, the prime minister’s country estate is close by, as is Great Missenden, with its curving high street of half-timbered houses and Georgian shops, and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. Marlow and Henley provide attractive access for riverside walks along the Thames Path. Aylesbury and other large towns including High Wycombe, Milton Keynes and Windsor are all less than 1 hour away. There is a fast 40-minute train link from into London’s Marylebone Station for those wanting a day out in the capital. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Very cosy and comfy, good location for the Home Counties and London. Quiet, nice garden, very clean. Only issue is we would have preferred an en-suite in the main bedroom to ease pressure (with two teenagers) on the main bathroom.

Great place for a family get together. Big kitchen and comfy lounge set the scene for happy times and great conversations. A sofa bed in the lounge would have helped accomodate us all a little more comfortably but plenty of space for six adults. Two bathrooms and two living areas to spread out in. Everything in good condition and spotlessly clean. It did exactly what was needed. The fresh eggs and farm milk left for us also added a generous welcoming touch.

Really super find and great place for our family to stay. Kids loved the garden with added bonus seeing the calves at feeding time. We loved it! Thank you.

The cottage is attractive, well-presented and spotlessly clean. It is also easy to access, without the difficult narrow single track lanes that lead to some cottages. In general, it is well-equipped and comfortable. A few minor points - the standard lamp in the sitting room did not work, meaning it was a little dark to read or knit in the evenings; the bed in the smaller double bedroom is very hard; and the bath - while very smart and modern - is very difficult to get out of! It would have been helpful, too, to be welcomed by the owners, especially as they live close by. But overall, we enjoyed our break in the Chilterns.

This was our second visit to this cottage and we were not disappointed. It was still as welcoming, warm, well equipped, well maintained and clean as it had been. The owners are very helpful and pleasant too.

Lovely cottage. Spacious, well laid out, safe for children, clean, very well equipped - we loved it! From the built in water filter on the kitchen tap to the dog towel and bowl - this is the holiday cottage that has almost everything! The only problem is - you don't want to leave.
