Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds and in the market town of Winchcombe, this spacious, detached holiday property has a delightful riverbank setting and is perfect for larger families and groups and can accommodate some disabled visitors. Adjacent to the owner’s home, the property is only 250 yards from the town’s shops, restaurants and ancient inns, whilst a footpath leads across fields to the romantic Sudeley Castle, home of Henry VIII’s last wife, Katherine Parr, who is buried in the castle’s chapel. Today the castle and its gardens can be enjoyed, with a series of exhibitions including items from Elizabethan and Victorian times, and it hosts special events such as the Summer Magic Proms and Air Display. This is an ideal base for walkers, being at the intersection of many well known walks including the Cotswold Way, the Gloucestershire Way and the Wardens Way. Cheltenham, with its racecourse and award winning parks and gardens, is 7 miles away. Each year it has literature, science and jazz festivals – something to appeal to all family members. The beautiful village of Broadway, referred to as the ‘show piece of the Cotswolds’, is also just 7 miles distant. Broadway Tower, with its colourful history, is well worth a visit as are the shops, art galleries and fine restaurants. Medieval Tewkesbury, the vibrant and busy market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Oxford are all easily accessible. Shops and pub 250 yards.

Long weekend in February for 4 'mature' couples. Location perfect, easy walk into Winchcombe village with an abundance of independent, clothes, greengrocers and decent pubs with good food. The house is roomy with 5 good bedrooms of which 4 are ensuite. The twin room is downstairs with a wet room across hall. The cottage is very well equiped with a 10 seater table in the sunny conservatory. This looks out onto a narrow part of the river and field and footpath which takes you up to Sudleigh Castle but not open till March as is the cafe up there. This was a lovely walk which can be a good 5 mile circular or a short 2 mile circular taking you into the village. We did the 5 miler as the day was perfect, bit muddy underfoot but fantastic views. There are plenty of walks from the cottage. After an enjoyable few beers in the local then watching England win their 6 nations game we enjoyed a hearty meal from the slow cooker. An enjoyable pool tournament then took place. It also has a good garden with outside eating which would be lovely on warmer days. Thoroughly recommend Kingfisher.

Lovely holiday venue in a picturesque village. Everything you needed was provided and owner very helpful. Enclosed garden with stream running at the bottom and great views. Walking distance from heart of village where there are plenty of places to eat. Close to lots of places to visit. We were a family of 8 over 3 generations and everyone loved our stay.

The cottage was excellent it had everything you required for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well equipped. We were ten adults who were all walkers location was great for walks and local places to eat. The owners were great with giving us great ideas for walks. We would definitely come back should we go to the Cotswolds again. This is a five star property ideal for families and adults alike. A must for a luxury holiday.

We had a superb time with our family, and enjoyed the lovely garden as much as the space in the house. The bathrooms were great-one for each bedroom- as were the TVs. No squabbling at all. Everything had been thought of, and everything was spotless. And such a friendly hostess as well.

We had a fantastic time at Kingfisher Cottage. The house is beautifully clean with a lovely open view from the conservatory that we could have looked at endlessly. Winchcombe is a fab village with a lot of interesting history, we had a great time exploring the village, walking up to Belas Knap, Sudeley Castle, Hailes Abbey, local tearooms and the tiny museum, riding on the steam name a few. The owners are great, very approachable and helpful. We've stayed at 3 different cottages in the Cotswolds and many more around the British Isles and I have to say this one was by far the best.
