Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds and in the market town of Winchcombe, this spacious, detached holiday property has a delightful riverbank setting and is perfect for larger families and groups and can accommodate some disabled visitors. Adjacent to the owner’s home, the property is only 250 yards from the town’s shops, restaurants and ancient inns, whilst a footpath leads across fields to the romantic Sudeley Castle, home of Henry VIII’s last wife, Katherine Parr, who is buried in the castle’s chapel. Today the castle and its gardens can be enjoyed, with a series of exhibitions including items from Elizabethan and Victorian times, and it hosts special events such as the Summer Magic Proms and Air Display. This is an ideal base for walkers, being at the intersection of many well known walks including the Cotswold Way, the Gloucestershire Way and the Wardens Way. Cheltenham, with its racecourse and award winning parks and gardens, is 7 miles away. Each year it has literature, science and jazz festivals – something to appeal to all family members. The beautiful village of Broadway, referred to as the ‘show piece of the Cotswolds’, is also just 7 miles distant. Broadway Tower, with its colourful history, is well worth a visit as are the shops, art galleries and fine restaurants. Medieval Tewkesbury, the vibrant and busy market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Oxford are all easily accessible. Shops and pub 250 yards.

Apart from a missing toilet seat in the downstairs toilet (which could have been repaired while we were there but for some reason could not be done until Tuesday) this is a lovely modern house and slept ten adults with ease. The downstairs and garden have plenty of room to eat and play, the pool table is a good feature. The upstairs bedrooms are all en suite but all have low ceilings to watch out for if you're over 5 feet tall as they are built in the eaves of the building. There was space to park up to 6 cars in front of the property which is on a B-road into Winchcombe. I would have given 9 for Comfort if the toilet seat damaged by a previous guest had been replaced promptly.

Lovely home from home. House is beautifully furnished and comfortable seating and beds. Conservatory a big plus and the pool table great fun for non players. Stunning garden and access to Riverside walk. Winchcombe accessible to walk into although uphill a little tough on the less fit of us but not really a problem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kingfisher Cottage. The only negative aspect was the road outside was noisier than expected at the busy times.

We had a lovely time with a group of friends reconnecting from various places around the country. Each our own bedroom and bathroom. Very clean and spacious. A peaceful place and we had nice weather too (although that made the conservatory like an oven with glass roof)

Nice cottage on the edge of Winchcombe with garden and patio area. The bedrooms all had en-suites although some were cramped. Can't fault the location; Winchcombe is quintessentially Cotswold, within walking distance of castles and pubs, and close to drive to plenty of other beautiful and historic places.

Long weekend in February for 4 'mature' couples. Location perfect, easy walk into Winchcombe village with an abundance of independent shops...gifts, clothes, greengrocers and decent pubs with good food. The house is roomy with 5 good bedrooms of which 4 are ensuite. The twin room is downstairs with a wet room across hall. The cottage is very well equiped with a 10 seater table in the sunny conservatory. This looks out onto a narrow part of the river and field and footpath which takes you up to Sudleigh Castle but not open till March as is the cafe up there. This was a lovely walk which can be a good 5 mile circular or a short 2 mile circular taking you into the village. We did the 5 miler as the day was perfect, bit muddy underfoot but fantastic views. There are plenty of walks from the cottage. After an enjoyable few beers in the local then watching England win their 6 nations game we enjoyed a hearty meal from the slow cooker. An enjoyable pool tournament then took place. It also has a good garden with outside eating which would be lovely on warmer days. Thoroughly recommend Kingfisher.
