"Charming cottages situated in a scenic holiday location, which form an ideal base from which to explore the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Coast..."

Killerby Old Hall and its 7 cottages are ideal for a countryside holiday whilst being less than 2 miles from the beach of Cayton Bay. Guests can enjoy the nature reserve and lake area, or relax in the indoor heated swimming pool. The accommodation ranges from the Old Hall, sleeping 10 in period splendour, through to cosy Crow’s Nest which sleeps 2. Set in a pretty courtyard, each cottage is different yet has its own sitting-out area with patio furniture and BBQ.
Killerby Old Hall is situated between the coastal resorts of family friendly Filey, with its cobble landing and pretty promenade, and Scarborough, with its vibrant South Bay and naturally picturesque North Bay, located on part of Britain’s heritage coast. The Stephen Joseph Theatre, famed throughout the county, puts on a number of Alan Aykbourn productions. To the north, across the stunning North Yorkshire Moors, lies the port of Whitby; famous for its connections to Captain James Cook and Dracula. Robin Hood’s Bay, a former fishing village with a smugglers past, has quaint streets which lead visitors to a small, sandy cove and rock pools. Heading inland, find the historic market town of Pickering, where the famous North Yorkshire Moors steam train begins its journey. Access Dalby Forest through the attractive village of Thornton-le-Dale and be sure to stop for an ice cream. The forest offers a range of activities including mountain bike tracks, or for those feeling adventurous there is Go Ape. It is also a popular picnic destination which is surrounded by walks that the whole family can enjoy. Travel a little further afield to Castle Howard with its stunning house and grounds. The ancient, Roman walled city of York sits just an hour up the A64, a famously haunted city with many attractions such as the railway museum, river trips and excellent shopping. To the south along the coast, the Cleveland Way leads to dramatic Flamborough Head and the Bempton RSPB Sanctuary. The village of Cayton is a 500 yard stroll, with its pub, post office and shop. Full amenities are just over 4 miles away in Scarborough. Shop and pub 500 yards.

Situated at one end of the pretty grassed courtyard, this converted barn is an ideal location for a large family gathering. Spacious living room with patio doors leading to a flagged patio area. Traditional dining room with wood-burning stove, TV, double height ceiling, parquet floor and patio doors to patio area. Large kitchen with dining area and large double range cooker. Utility. There was plenty of equipment for 12 persons but I would have liked 1 or 2 big jugs for water etc at meal times... we bought some in the end... and the dishwasher and washing machine worked very well. It would have been useful to have more showering facilities as, especially in the mornings, it was a bit hectic getting everyone sorted for the day, perhaps one over the bath without the shower could be arranged? Seating for 12 adults around the dining table was a bit squashed and there weren't enough comfortable seats in the main lounge for 12 adults either although we moved chairs round for when we played games together or all wanted to be in the lounge. The kitchen was great in the mornings, as people arrived at different times for breakfast, and I loved the pantry which made for excellent storage with all the cupboards too. Great to have a bigger fridge for all the storage of food we bought! Some of the beds were more comfortable than others (twin, double at far end, and single were fine) but either the pillows or the mattresses in the other 3 doubles and the single in the family room were uncomfortable and the fact the duvets were a wee bit smaller than we are used to (we have king sized on double beds) meant there was a lot of tossing and turning to try to keep covered. That said the rooms were lovely and warm which we needed at this time of year (early April) and large enough for everyone to spread out and 'do their own thing' as necessary. The gardens were cared for and there was space for outdoor eating in the better weather, unfortunately not for us! There was no mention on the details that there was a small caravan site and large storage are nearby and this meant that there were more people on site than I had thought and therefore potentially more people to use the pool and games room which COULD have made these areas very crowded, as it happened it didn't, but we didn't know this when booking although it wouldn't have made much difference . Overall we had a good time here and would only NOT return because, as a family, we choose to go somewhere different every year to explore Britain or abroad, and not because there was anything bad about the place. The owners were friendly and helpful with a little reception area that answered all our needs. Many thanks to them for the welcome pack and presenting the whole place beautifully, it made a good start to the holiday.

This is the perfect accomodation for a relaxed family break and the cottage has everything you could wish for and more. What a lovely place, very spacious and yet still homely. We went as a group of 13 and would highly recommend this and will definately be going again.

Great week at Yard End House. Had a family get together to celebrate both an 18th and 80th birthday. Plenty of room for 10 of us. Kitchen well equipped (fantastic oven!) and wifi a godsend. Good location for exploring the North Yorkshire coast. Pool and games room were both well used by us, and a real bonus if the weather not too great. Owners both friendly and helpful (bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival much appreciated).
