Description

An immaculately presented property set in a rural position with stunning sea views. Just 5 minutes walk to White Strand Beach.

Killard Cottage in Doonbeg is situated in an elevated location with spectacular views onto the Atlantic with the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands in the distance. Doonbeg is located on the ’Wild Atlantic Way’, the scenic long distance route along the west coast of Ireland. It is only a short walk to the beautiful White Strand beach, which is suitable for families and has a lifeguard in the summer season.

Doonbeg is just an hour’s drive from Shannon Airport, a three to four hours’ drive from Dublin Airport and two and a half hours from Cork Airport. The Shannon ferry in Killimer connects to County Kerry.

Trump International Golf Links with spa and restaurant is just 8 minutes’ drive away and can be seen on the other side of the bay. It is also only a 10-15 minutes’ drive to Kilkee, the popular seaside resort with fantastic cliff scenery, and also the gateway to the remote, rugged Loop Head Peninsula.

Killard Cottage is a warm and welcoming retreat in an idyllic location with stunningly spectacular sea views. Set on Killard Hill at Doonbeg, and close to the owner’s home and working dairy farm, this delightful cottage offers magnificent sunsets making it an attractive choice for a seaside holiday. Killard offers access to many designated scenic walking routes, both along the nearby cliffs and also further afield, while geologists remain intrigued by the local rock formations. The area is also very popular with birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.
The restored, detached cottage has up-to-date comforts, is furnished to a very good standard and is bright and airy. The open plan ground floor living area is finished with exposed ceiling beams and consists of a fully-fitted kitchen with dining table together with a very comfortable sitting area complete with wood-burning stove. The cupboards at Killard Cottage are always stocked with basic starter essentials. Wooden floors are fitted throughout the property and the living area leads to a spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room and patio doors at ground level. From this room a spiral staircase gives access to a connecting first floor mezzanine single bedroom with a sloping ceiling and a spectacular Velux window view. Outdoors, there is a gravelled courtyard with furniture and striking views of the blissful Doonbeg Bay and Atlantic Ocean, together with the adjacent countryside. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beams and wooden floor. 1 double bedroom with en-suite shower room with toilet and steep, spiral stairs to connecting first floor single bedroom with Velux and sloping ceilings.

Woodburner in living room (no fuel provided). Gas central heating and electricity (€4per day summer, €7per day winter). Bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. We had a brilliant stay in Killard cottage. It was the first time we ventured abroad with our young son and the minute we pulled up to the cottage we knew we had made the right decision. With a view that nobody could ever get tired of the cottage was far enough out to offer peace and tranquility whilst being in driving distance of some fantastic places to visit. We felt as though just a few extra basics would have been appreciated such as hand soap in the kitchen but this certainly will not stop us from coming back soon, hopefully when the weather is a little bit better 😀. Thank you Aideen and Jim for being the most wonderful hosts.

Fabulous place to stay. There is everything you need for a comfortable break. The kitchen equipment is well thought out, we even had a dinner party. Bed comfortable, bathroom well planned and everything in good working order. Central heating efficient and heats all areas quickly, also a lovely log burning fire. The cottage is tastefully decorated. Could not fault anything there is even a sunny sitting area outside. Plenty of parking space. Helpful owners. Lovely position . A real find. Lounge area comfortable and wifi works well.

The cottage is situated on a T junction, set directly onto the road leading to the local beach; the noise from traffic outside the front door was intrusive to the peace and quiet, particularly in the mornings and evenings. This, plus limited garden space precluded sitting outside. The setting however was visually wonderful.
