A most beautiful location with marvelous views. Very good off road parking. Beautiful looking cottage. Inside very old fashioned. A bit like a museum to the 1960s. Cottage has 2 bedrooms both with single beds. There is a real sold fuel fire in the main room. So take your own wood. There was coal in the bunker when we arrived but no wood. The village has very few amenities. 1 seafood restaurant and 1 small shop. Shop is not open on a Sunday. The tap water in this village runs brown from the taps. Water comes from local stream and is not purified in the methods most people are used to. It is supposed to be safe to drink. Local shop sells very large bottles of drinking water for 2 pounds. The cottage is only about 1 mile or do from the ferry port to Arran. I will certainly be back to this beautiful place. Because it is do tranquil and relaxing.

We enjoyed our weekend in a beautiful part of Scotland, but we were disappointed by the property. We didn't realise no double bed, furniture was past it and house took 24hrs with the fire on before it was warm. I also had to boil the kettle 10 times to fill the bath as we had no hot water. The house has so much potential and just needs a wee up to date refurbishment and would make for a much more comfortable stay. Thankyou

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. I'm so sorry you were disappointed. I am puzzled at the overall rating you give of 3, given that the scores you give range from 3 to 10. On the double bed, both bedrooms are clearly described in the property description as twin bedrooms. (The beds can of course be pushed together.) On the furniture, it is good quality furniture, some antique. On the heating and hot water, I'm sorry - and puzzled. The storage heaters are all turned up a couple of days before arrival. There is also a fan heater, for a blast of instant heat if needs be, as well as instant convection heaters on most of the storage heaters (as well as the open fire and the wood burning stove). The hot water is likewise turned on before arrival, and there is a "boost" switch on the wall in the kitchen. The telephone numbers for owner, caretaker and agency are all in the house, and if you had contacted us, I'm sure we could have helped sort this out. I'm glad you enjoyed the cottage and location otherwise. Thank you for your nice comments on the cottage and your feedback.

We had the most fantastic time in the cottage. It had virtually everything you could possibly need. My one and only criticism would be the lack of hot water in any quantity I came with the intention of photographing a Dipper and eventually found one not 100 metres from the cottage. Not only did I spot many dozen different species of birds, but also spotted seals and sea otters in the bay. I think our highlight was meeting " coco " the deer. He actually looked at us through the kitchen window !! For November, the weather was really good and the heaters in the cottage were ample without needing to light the stove or fire. I would certainly recommend the cottage and would ideally like to return again.
