This was our second booking at Keepers cottage in 6 months, so good was our first experience. It was great for our family party and especially our two dogs. Secure garden, plus fabulous walks from the property meant it was hard to drag ourselves away when the weather was fine, so much so, we barely did! - the views and wildlife locally and in the immediate vicinity are hard to beat. Property is warm and cosy and extremely well equipped with quality linen, china, etc.
There was a welcome pack on arrival of a few basic items, which is always a bonus, but the only downside this time around was that it was completely devoid of any other condiments to use in cooking-salt, pepper, oil, etc., all of which were there in spades on our last visit, so this was unexpected. I appreciate that not everyone wants to use products that others have used/left behind, but it is nice to have the option if you don't want to spend your first days shopping for small items.
We had noted all the warnings about steep stairs inside and out, and despite this our elderly parents chose to join us on our first visit in May this year, regardless; however, we did find the narrow uneven stairs between bedroom and bathroom too uneven to consider their using the upstairs, but instead they found the basement ideal with its wet room, and by entering and exiting the entrance door on that level rather than the internal stairs. However, did feel that this time around it would be a little to damp for them to use in the winter months given their age and disabilities.
There a some good pubs around serving quality food, but by far our favourite was The Moody Cow in Upton Bishop a few miles away-a fabulous and faultless dining experience! We look forward to returning to Keepers Cottage at the earliest opportunity.
