Had a wonderful weekend at Kates cottage. Very comfortable bed! Plus everything you need it's home from home. Beautiful country garden which the dog loved exploring. Will definitely return!

The beds were comfortable and provision of heat sources was satisfactory. The location was delightful and we had fantastic weather, enjoying the outside space in the evenings. A friendly phone call from the owner to check on our comfort was a kind addition.

Great location to explore the southern lakes area. Main reason for the trip was an activity booked in Bootle but Kate's Cottage location provided great central point for Windermere and Coniston. Recommend getting an asda delivery (£40 min order) or bring your own food as nearest supermarket is Booths and it's not good value for money. Kitchen missing a few things that would make self catering easier. Nothing essential really just have to improvise in some areas of cooking. Bed in master bedroom was so amazing and comfortable that we came home and bought one! Would definitely come again and compared to a lot of holiday lets in the lakes areally it's very good value for money. One note of caution. It says dog friendly but not allowed upstairs or on furniture and expected to sleep in the porch area. If your dog is as precious as ours then it may be a struggle. Also recommend you book local activities in advance. Even in Spring school holidays main attractions are very busy.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am pleased that you were happy with your stay at Kate’s cottage and that you found the bed to be very comfortable. I suggested that the dog sleep in the porch, as it is carpeted and there is a storage heater for the dog to curl up next to. I thought it would be more comfortable there as the weather was chilly. As to refraining dogs from jumping onto the furniture and not allowing them upstairs, I was reiterating the holiday company’s advice, which is in the small print and mentioned in the guest book. The settees and bed are recent purchases, I am therefore concerned about them being damaged. Most visitors are very happy to oblige with these requests. The kitchen is very well equipped and as far as I know there is nothing missing. Please inform me if you are short of any utensils, then I can sort it out. Booth’s supermarket is the nearest one to the Cottage, it specialises in locally produced foods and it only takes ten minutes to drive there. Asda, in Barrow takes about 30minutes to reach.

Lovely located cottage, in a very quiet hamlet overlooking hilltops. Very tight lanes to get to cottage. But worth the drive. When using sat nav be aware of getting to cottage, as it tried to take us down a road not suitable for cars This road is a path that runs next to the cottage , but you cannot use it.

What a lovely cottage! It's by far the most comfortable and well equipped we've stayed in and the owner was a wealth of information and also rang us on the first night to check we were happy with everything. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the fire laid ready for our first evening. The bed was also very comfortable, Just what was needed after long days out walking. The location was lovely and peaceful and the views beautiful. We will definitely pop back here for another break.

The cottage was splendid, quiet and comfortable. The open fire in the evening made the stay very cosy. The surrounding countryside was pretty and amenities were a only a short drive away. Great location to explore the lakes.

Absolutely loved this cottage. The perfect place for our 2015 xmas. Everything we needed and very comfortable. The owner was a lovely and very helpful lady. The local pub was very friendly and we even managed to get an Indian takeaway delivered. Shopping was delivered from asda very easily. The walks are amazing and the locals very friendly. Overall perfect.

Lovely traditional cottage in a very peaceful location. All home comforts provided including plenty of heating tho we chose to use traditional open fire each night. Owners very conscientious and called on first night to check everything OK which it was. Would definitely recommend Kates cottage and hope to stay again ourselves.
