A lovely warm, welcoming cottage in a beautiful location. Ideally situated for visiting local attractions. The perfect place for a truly relaxing break, we had a fantastic winter week and hope to return in the spring or summer so that we can enjoy the countryside at its best.

Whilst the cottage had many quality features it was apparent that it was not looked after as well as it might have been unfortunately. The cleaning of the cottage left a lot to be desired with cobwebs everywhere, downstairs en-suite not cleaned properly. Very dirty bedroom carpet. TV not working until days later when owner rectified problem. There was a very pungent smell from the oil boiler located outside the small upstairs bedroom making it unpleasant for sleeping. Outside patio area needed some TLC

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We are disheartened to hear that you did not fully enjoy your stay at Joiner’s Cottage. The oil fired boiler had been installed by the previous Owner in the upstairs bathroom. It had been brought to our notice last year that this boiler occasionally omitted oil smells so we had it checked professionally by a local company who informed us that the boiler was perfectly safe, no visible leaks and was running well. However in December 2015, the bathroom was completely renovated and a new purpose built outside boiler was installed. We have had no problems since.

Overall we had a good holiday. One of our party was unwell midweek. The local doctors surgery was excellent. There was no mobile phone signal The phone in the cottage did not take incoming calls

We had a lovely stay in this cottage with our new baby. Really well equipped, gorgeous interior and location. Particularly liked the patio we could just wheel him onto in his pram. Highly recommend although people with small children might not like stone steps up to the first floor.

Lovely cottage, friendly helpful owner in a fabulous location. Only one small thing for consideration when next updating the cottage would be: the double bed frame, it looks lovely but is not good for a tall person, I would replace the double bed with a king or even queen size, this would also add to the feeling of luxury most would expect with a property at this price point.

On first glance, beautiful cottage in idyllic location and we did enjoy our stay. However, not as spotlessly clean as other places we've stayed - dust on surfaces, cobwebs on walls and ceiling, toilet and kitchen not thoroughly cleaned. The biggest issue however was the smell from the oil combi boiler located in the first floor bathroom. The smell also permeated through to the adjacent twin bedroom (the kids bedroom). This required all the upstairs windows to be open for the duration of our stay - we were lucky that the weather allowed this. We were reassured by the owner that although unpleasant, the boiler was safe and dated inspection label and functioning CO monitor was indeed in place. If the boiler was to be moved outside then I would have no problem recommending this cottage, but until that happens I'm afraid I cannot recommend as the issues mentioned did significantly impact on our enjoyment of the property for obvious reasons!
