Superb views

These 4 quality and characterful barn conversions are set in striking ’White Peak’ scenery and each enjoys one of the most breathtaking views in the Peak Park, across to the jagged and dramatic Chrome and Parkhouse hills. There are some lovely walks to be enjoyed in the area. The pretty market towns of Buxton, 4 miles, and Bakewell, 12 miles, and the village of Hartington, 5 miles, are an easy drive from the properties. Climbing at the Roaches and Froggatt, the caves at Castleton, Chatsworth House and Alton Towers theme park are all under a 30-minute drive away. Three of the properties (refs 10847, 10848 and 10849) are single-storey and suited to partially disabled guests. Harebell Hill (ref 10848) has its own garden with chairs and has 4 steps to the front door, with Poppies Court (ref 10847) having two steps. Their creative conversions have given the properties individual charm, with old stone arches, high vaulted ceilings and original beams. Jerusalem Cottage (ref 9603), 120 yards across the road from the other properties, is a 4 level conversion which features a galleried bedroom, split-level living room and kitchen, with its own washer/dryer and dishwasher. Jersuslaem Cottage has its own garden with lawn, patio and bench. The other three properties have shared washing facilities, complete with washing machine and tumble dryer. Shop 2 miles, pub ½ mile.

Lower ground floor: 1 twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Ground floor: Dining room/kitchen. First floor: Living room. Galleried area with double bed.

Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Freezer. Garden with lawn, patio and bench.

All properties: NSH, electricity, bed linen and towels included. High chair. Video. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Shared barbecue. Ample parking.

Lovely area with great views. The cottage is well equipped with comfortable beds, pleasant gardens and off road parking. It is easy to find and drive to. The owner is friendly and lives nearby. A short walk to the village and you are on the Buxton to Ashbourne bus route where the is also a local pub of character.

Good points * Well stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, milk, detergent, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets & even some biscuits. * Plenty of cooking utensils & cutleries/crockeries to cook for a proper meal! * Plenty of info on local walks/local info. * Soft bed mattress. * Living room windows overlooking the fields. * Host seem to care about the property & lives opposite in case of any issues. * Quite clean overall * 3 semi storeys & good location for exploring White & dark peak (~15mins from Buxton) Down-sides: * bathroom a bit damp & mouldy in places (Even long after a shower) * Car noise waking us up in the morning (especially when milk tankers go up the main B road) * no mobile phone signals anywhere in the village for Vodafone and poor reception from O2. * Electric heater takes time to warm up

The location was lovely with plenty of walks right from the door. The kitchen was well equipped and the sitting room and upper bedroom very comfortable, however the bedroom on the lower floor was damp and as a consequence had wood lice running around as did the bathroom on the same floor.

A lovely location - perfect for exploring the Peaks. The only improvement would be the provision of an internet connection / WIFI.

Ideal base for exploring the many attractions in the Peak District. Would have been nice to have wi-fi included - it wouldn't cost the owner that much & they could include it in the price of rental. Quiet & peaceful location, with beautiful views.
