Guests can take advantage of a spa complex, located only 150 yards from the cottage which offers a large indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room and games room (at cost). Ffos Las Racecourse is 7 miles (15-minute drive). Horse riding nearby. Ideal for golf. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards.

What a privilege to stay in such an amazing "cottage" or should I say mansion!! There was just me and my husband and our 2 dogs, but with 4 bedrooms and numerous rooms downstairs, it would suit larger groups. The garden was huge, and our dogs enjoyed exploring all around. The only downside for me was the staircase. Yes unusual and quirky, but I had several near misses and actually fell up the stairs on one occasion, but that is my age!! We were disappointed that our dogs had to stay on leads, and were banned from the beach over the water at LLansteffan, as we would loved to have had a stroll there. Local hotel/pub very handy, and I must admit the carvery on the sunday was amazing. Shame the other pub in town wasn`t open during the day as we`d walked there and fancied a lunchtime drink! Dogs got a little muddy on the beach at times, but they loved it. Can`t believe the size of the jellyfish there!! Overall we felt very comfortable and the locals all were friendly. Shop was handy and stocked a fair bit, however we travelled into Kidwelly to the Co-op for a bigger shop. Wifi patchy and slow, and the TV in the dining rm didn`t work, but we didn`t watch much TV as we`d brought a good selection of boardgames with us. Shame there was no visitors book as I usually like to read previous peoples comments. However, I would thoroughly recommend to others and would even stay again despite the stairs!

Ivy Cottage is a beautiful old cottage with lots of space and character. It is in the process of being updated which is needed in some areas. The kitchen is new and lovely. You can walk to the bank of the river in minutes and the scenery is stunning. The cottage smells quite musty which is the real downside it could also do with a bit of a better clean in some parts. The stair case is very difficult to manage the kids all managed fine (aged 7 plus) but one of the adults fell from top to bottom and suffered chipped teeth and bruising. There is a stair gate which I would recommend.

Three generations shared, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, comfortable and well placed for local attractions/sight seeing etc. Plenty of character especially the stairs, which were no problem whatsoever. Large lawn excellent for an evening family boules tournament!

The cottage was well equipped and spacious. There was a good community spirit in the village with a welcoming store and pub. We enjoyed taking part in Ferryside garden crawl. A good place to take your dog!

The cottage is close to a beach, however, the beach is part of an estuary and tends to be muddy. It is a good centre for touring around the surrounding countryside. The cottage was quirky in a nice way, however, its presentation was poor. We found food (crisps) on the floor in one of the bedrooms, the toilet in the bathroom was dirty and the kitchen floor was dirty. One of the double beds was covered in dog hair. One of the recliner sofas had bare wires on the cables, a safety concern in our view. At different times during our stay, two bulbs in two different bedside lamps blew with a scary bang which caused the earth leakage trip to blow and a fuse to blow in one of the table lamp flexes. The convector heater in the lounge didn't work, although the weather was such that we didn't need it (and there's effective oil central heating anyway). There were moth larvae in the lounge carpet and moths flying round in the lounge. The Internet connection was flaky and kept dropping in and out. The downstairs toilet was leaking.
