Close to the sea

This delightful holiday property with sea views, is set in the sleepy seaside village of Ferryside. Traditionally presented, Ivy Cottage has large proportions and is set in its own large enclosed garden. It is uniquely positioned less than a few minutes walk to the seafront. It is an ideal family location and a delight for children as the railway runs quietly through the centre of the village, also providing ideal links to Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire. Ferryside is an almost undiscovered part of the Carmarthenshire coastline and benefits from all the peace and tranquillity. Guests can take advantage of a spa complex, located only 150 yards from the cottage which offers a large indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room and games room (at cost). Ffos Las Racecourse is 7 miles (15-minute drive). Horse riding nearby. Ideal for golf. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards.

What a wonderful weekend we had. This cottage is perfect for a friends' getaway within reach of a lovely coastal walk and beautiful areas. The locals are all friendly and glad to see you and the house is comfortable and impressive to stay in. The kitchen plates and cutlery obviuspyl aren't used regularly as they needed a quick clean at the beginning but this wasn't a problem really. Had a wonderful weekend and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

It was very homely and comfortable. The owner was very helpful when we had a problem with the Internet. It was like being at home. Our dogs loved the garden. And the back door area was great for muddy wellies and wet dogs.

The cottage was clean and there was wine and welsh cakes on arrival. However the main oven on the cooker is not working correctly and both my son and daughter in law burnt themselves on it. the thermostate seems to be broken and the oven just gets hotter and hotter. The local amenities were not very good either. There is no mobile signal either.

Nice house but the view is not as good as I expected, being so close to the Towy estuary. The view is blocked by the houses opposite and the railroad. We liked the Dutch stairs but the beds are too short for Dutchmen. Good kitchen facilities though we dearly missed a soup spoon.

The stairs were a bit steep not good for the elderly my mother had to sleep downstairs as there was no way she could manage the climb - also the oven was thick with grease and had to be cleaned out before use otherwise good location - brilliant weather and a good time had by all even the dog each day we did a doggie poo patrol to keep the grass clear although we did have a few foxes who made a mess.
