A converted barn with a Green Tourism award nestled in the picturesque Tyne Valley. Close to the Pennine Way and C2C cycle route.

This delightful barn conversion, adjoining the owner’s home, retains the former Byre’s character and enjoys picturesque views of the scenery of the North Pennines, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property also has a Green Tourism Business Scheme gold award and although a tumble dryer is available, the owners would prefer guests to use the outdoors for drying. There are outstanding walks and scenery from the doorstep and the location is peaceful and perfectly placed for exploring the quaint town of Alston. There are numerous cycle routes from the barn, golf is within 5 miles and horse riding can be found 11 miles away, as well as fishing locally. the cottage has three bedrooms but only one wardrobe upstairs we always ask for ground floor accomodation because of my wifes disabilaty,so wardrobe upstairs not ideal.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry that you were unhappy about a lack of wardrobe in the ground floor bedroom. We did have a wardrobe but was advised by our assessor to remove it and to put the hanging posts with hangers attached to the walls for guests to hang clothes. The reasoning behind this idea was to make the room more light and airy and relaxing for our guests with disabilities, and also to make more room for maneuvering in the room. We do provide a lot of clothes hangers in the room.

Isaac's Byre is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We were incredibly lucky to have really good weather so we were able to get out and about and enjoy the stunning scenery. There are lots of great walks right from the doorstep and our two dogs had a fabulous time. You are also fairly close to the Lake District if you wanted to visit. The road between the cottage and Penrith is amazing and well worth the drive. We were sad to leave when the week ended and we would definitely go back if we were thinking of visiting that part of the country again.

Lovely cottage. Very well equipped. Owners couldn't do enough for us - even provided toys for our kids. Beautiful location but it is very remote so you need a car. Enjoyed a walk along the railway from Alston, a ride on the train, a visit to Killhope mining museum (we were very excited to see red squirrels) and a walk along hadrian's walk. Lots to do nearby. Would definitely recommend both the cottage and the area.
