This Victorian residence is perfectly placed for a day at the beach of exploring the North York Moors and quaint market towns.

A beautiful Victorian residence, ideal for a holiday or special occasion, with sea views, landscape grounds, 9-hole putt, beach and moors within walking distance.
Named after a Scandinavian mythical god in the shape of an ash tree, Igdrasil is a large, detached Victorian home and is ideal for that long awaited family gathering or to celebrate a special occasion. Retaining many original features, the property has large lawned and landscaped gardens affording delightful views over the cliffs to the sea in Robin Hood’s Bay. Bright spacious rooms are comfortably furnished with a warm home from home feel. Located just ½ mile from the popular village of Robin Hood’s Bay, where inns, tea rooms, antique and curio shops line the streets. The alleyways and ginnels are home to ancient fishermen’s cottages clinging to the cliff edge, all leading down to the shore, an ideal place for a family day at the beach where children will love fossil hunting. This holiday property is perfectly located for exploring both the North York Moors National Park and the Heritage coast of Yorkshire, Whitby is just 6 miles and is known for its connections with Captain James Cook. Boasting a 3-mile stretch of sandy beach, a colourful harbour and marina, all overlooked and almost protected by the 12th-century abbey ruins and St Mary’s church. Park the car and board the steam train (Hogwart’s Express), where you can enjoy a memorable journey through the stunning Esk Valley into the well known villages of Grosmont and Goathland, made famous by the TV series ’Heartbeat’. Discover fishermen’s coves of Runswick Bay and Staithes to the north, where as to the south is the more elegant seaside resort of Scarborough; fun fairs, amusements, parks and donkey rides on the beach are all here. Venture onto the North York Moors just a few miles from the door, where bridle paths and cycle paths abound, and pretty little villages tucked away deep in the valleys are home to country pubs and inns, serving some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine and friendly locals wait to greet you. Market towns of Pickering, Kirkby Moorside, Helmsley and Guisborough still host the weekly markets and are easily accessed. Historic homes, halls and castles surround the area, and there are art galleries, museums and theatres all available. Golf enthusiasts will love the challenging 18-hole cliff top course located in Whitby. The 9-hole putting green in the garden will entertain the family for hours on a summer’s evening. Relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the magical twinkling lights of passing ships. Beach 1 mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

Very comfortable and well equipped house which is perfect for a large group of friends or family. The large garden is great for kids and the house has several living areas including one with a coal fire. There are lots of interstinf items on display around the house and there are plenty of games and toys. Robin Hoods Bay is about 10 minutes walk, Whitby is 5 miles by the Cinder Track or 8 miles by the coastal track.

Great location for a family Christmas with 8 adults, 5 children aged 5-9, and a dog. We enjoyed beautiful walks, the kids played in the garden, and there were sea views and sunsets from the bedrooms. The house was clean and welcoming, with a lot of unusual decoration providing a talking point! The kitchen was well stocked and the house generally really comfortable, although some of the mattresses need an upgrade.

Great weekend, struggled to find 8 double bedrooms for the first away NCT weekend away, but this house was perfect, especially with the large garden.

The fantastic garden made our holiday. It has so much room for the children and dogs to gallop around. The fences are secure so the dogs could not wander away. The house is full of quirky, interesting objects.
