Although not at the seaside and quite a residential area, it's a very good base for a holiday in the South Hams - most of the main beaches are within a few miles by car and the amenities in Malborough village (Co-op, two pubs, park, play and gym areas, etc) are in five minutes walk. It's a very homely place - like the owners maybe live there outside season - with all amenities within the cottage. They're quite keen on signage within the property but we found that quite useful. All in all, we had a pretty good time and it was much better staying there than in Salcombe itself - pretty full-up with holidaymakers and felt congested.

The place was comfortable and a good base for the week. I think the place itself needs to be redecorated as it does feel as though it hasn't been updated for 20 years and needs to reflect that it is holiday accommodation, rather than just someone's house that is being let for a week. Also the hedge at the back needs to be cut down as this would allow a nice view. As it is, it is just obscuring what could be nice. Overall it is nice and comfortable but needs an update and a little care and attention.

Hydrangeas is a lovely, well equipped bungalow. It is an ideal base for exploring South Hamms. There is a local Co-op and petrol station at the top of the road. There are two pubs in the village but one was closed for renovation. The other one wasn't open at lunchtime when we wanted to eat there. The only other night we went there it was crowded for a music event so we didn't stop. Parking is a problem and the garage is useful.

Wonderful location, garage was perfect for storing kayaks and hope cove a few miles away was amazing...Weather helped...A few people commented the garage was not sufficient for their SUVs/Range Rovers..Granted it's tight, my fiesta squeezed in and i broke my mirror getting out but i don't have a garage at home so human error to blame there, it is an added bonus as extra storage in my opinion. My only downer was the broadband which considering all the end point green boxes said superfast is avilable, the speed was no more than ISDN of 15 years ago, fine for email but couldn't stream films very well...Only suggestion would be if you are paying 20 a month, have a word with BT as i get 80mb a month for £30 and you get 1.8mb max...I am in IT so geekily i tested it at different times of the day...Poor regardless of the times i tried....Otherwise i would highly recommend it as an awesome base to explore the south hams....Inspired us to invest in somewhere similar ourselves. Heather the owner called before we arrived which was a lovely touch and we had a fab week. Thank you.
