A great place to stay pet friendly, right in the heart of Braemar but also quiet.walking distance to all amenities and close enough to mountains and forest for all day walks. Had a good week there even though weather was wet. The cottage had everything you could need and the lounge was spacious and homely . We would definitely stay again.

Braemar is a wonderful village to stay in with stunning views and great eateries. The owner of Horsechestnut Cottage was so helpful and we felt very at home as soon as we moved in. It was super to have fresh flowers on our arrival too. The lounge is especially comfy and the website photos do not do it justice. The bedrooms are also very comfortable. The kitchen is too cluttered with so much equipment in the cupboards that there is not enough space to put things. The dining table in the kitchen struggles to fit 8 around it as the kitchen is not very big. The owners clearly want their guests to have everything they could possibly need - which is the case - but it would be very helpful for future guests if it wasn't so cluttered. All said and done, we would definitely go back as the positives far outweigh the negatives!

While the cottage was warm, clean and comfortable one thing that we did find difficult was the amount of clutter. The kitchen was so full of surplus equipment there was almost nowhere to store food. There were six or more different kinds of teapots but no cafetiere. Because the cupboards had so much in them it was actually quite hard to get things out and put them away again. One other suggestion would be to update the instructions for guests. They were hand written and faded and I couldn't read them.We couldn't find any instructions for the appliances such as dish washer, micro wave or washing machine. On the plus side we met the owner on arrival and couldn't fault his friendly welcome.

An excellent cottage in a very convenient location. The only very minor criticism is that some rooms could do with 'uncluttering' to make a little more space
