Lovely, cosy place to stay in great location. Could do with a deeper clean of oven etc., and cobwebs, but other than that it was great.

Hookes House is a darling place! I loved staying there as it was so central to everything not only in Chipping Campden, but to all of the Cotswolds, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Oxford. I was disappointed that the kitchen was dirty and the pots & pans provided were worn and dirty, as well. The upstairs toilet did not flush on its own; we had to use a large pan from the kitchen to fill with water and pour into the toilet to flush it. There should also be some sort of indication in the booking information that this is NOT an accommodation for those who cannot climb stairs, as there are two STEEP staircases in the flat. Hookes House is charming, well-located and with a few minor tweaks, could be a 10 on each of the above ratings.

Excellent location but I was mis informed regarding parking there is no allocated parking at the house but that wasn't a problem as you can park on the high street for no charge . We will return everything was excellent we have stayed in quite a few cottages and this is one of the best ones we have stayed for amenities location cleanliness and comfort . We took my mum with us who is 82 yrs old and she fell in love with the cottage .

not suitable for disabled. Filthy windows lots of cobwebs in house

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Oh dear, we are genuinely sorry to read these comments. This building is an old Grade 2 listed building which overlooks the main High Street and Square. It is in a super position, but from time to time the windows on the street side can inevitably get dusty from the stonework and street movements etc. We have had a longish dry spell and there was probably more dust on them than usual. Our windows are regularly cleaned by a professional cleaner. The Apartment is described in the agency brochure as being entered through a passageway and from the ground floor front door is accessed via a staircase to first and second floors. Clients with mobility issues are assumed will ask the booking agency that it is, or is not, suitable for disabled/elderly/young children etc and are told that there are staircases which might not suit everybody because of the old and period nature of the property. An old period building constructed of Cotswold stone, with high ceilings and lots of exposed timber work and beams, will from time to time attract cobwebs. All of this adds to the charm of our unique English accommodation. We will pass on your remarks to the housekeeper. Thank you again

Ideal location with access to many local amenities. Very friendly place with helpful locals. Hookes House has everything you'd want in a holiday rental. However, the flat needs a thorough clean - the oven and cooker were in a dire state and as a result, we didn't cook anything! The kitchen was a greasy mess! A team of cleaners need to be sent in to coordinate a deep clean. The actual fabric of building requires maintenance - all the little things that need to be done to keep the flat in an acceptable condition. Perhaps the owner, who operates the Estate Agency down below should inspect his property periodically!
