Scottish Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

Set along fragmented coastline and stunning sea lochs, Stables Cottage offers complete serenity.

"Surrounded by 150 acres of glorious wooded grounds, abundant in wildlife. . ."

Amidst a glorious landscape of unspoilt wooded glens, fragmented coastline, stunning sea lochs and breathtaking bays, the delightful cottages at Home Farm nestle in the peaceful wooded valley of the River Ruel. The steading and cottages, formerly the home farm to the estate, have been lovingly restored and are very comfortably furnished in contemporary Scottish style.
Their spacious courtyard setting affords each of them a sense of privacy and they all boast access to 150 acres of wooded grounds, abundant in bird and wildlife, with free trout and salmon fishing on the Ruel - the fishing hut provides an ideal picnic spot. One of the most admired views in Scotland, The Kyles of Bute, awaits discovery just 6 miles away, as do the tranquil village of Tighnabruaich’s lovely natural bays, sandy beach, shops, restaurants and 9 hole golf course. Colintraive (9 miles) offers a pub serving good food and there is a summer shop (limited opening hours) adjacent to Home Farm. Beach 5 miles. Shop 13 miles, pub and restaurant 7 miles.

Open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove and kitchen area with wooden floor. Double bedroom with 5ft bed and additional pull-out single bed (for +1). Single bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Great cottage in a great location. Had a fab week with our 5 year old who loved the 'fairy glen' walks and the games room.

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful, remote, quiet location, yet not too far from Dunoon for good local shopping. Excellent kitchen with everything you need, comfortable lounge, my only personal criticism was that the bed was a little firm. The location is great, the waterfall opposite the house was a nice place for a late evening stroll. Games room useful. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days here though this was probably helped by the fact we had the first good week of weather this year (June 15)! The estate manager was very helpful. The main roads around the area are amazing - all re-laid within the last year or two so long journeys to say, Inverary, take less time than you'd think. The loch-side locations are beautiful/picturesque. Otter Ferry pub did good food, the location is amazing! Bute was well worth a visit (for Mount Stuart) though ferry cost with a car high. Bring your fishing rod for local fishing, none was supplied. Whilst I won't be coming to Scotland again for a while due to the distance from where I live, I would definitely stay here again when I do! Thank you for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.

We had a nice relaxing stay at this well equipped cottage. It is in a nice location and ideal for short trips to nearby beaches/isles and forests.

Wonderful Cottage. Will be returning soon - already booked up! Beautifully laid out, high standard of fixtures and fittings, lovely and warm, great facilities (the games room is a nice bonus!), nice an isolated so wonderfully relaxing but still within a short drive or civilisation! Beautiful scenery and overall a faultless stay. The caretaker is also a real gent!
